What I learned (or didn't learn) this weekend for several SEC teams

1. Georgia: Learned very little I think. They lost by a FG to a tough opponent in a hostile environment in a game that was always going to be a toss up. Both teams gave the other side chances to win. Yes, UGA lost, but it was not a choke job. I think Georgia will be just fine.
2. Alabama: Learned that Alabama is still a championship caliber team. Their performance against Virginia Tech is how champions play: play poorly and still win in a blowout fasion to a quality side. Alabama will be just fine.
3. LSU: Learned that they have the potential to be a champion, but will probably drop a few very sloppily along the way to derail it. The LSU performance against TCU was the polar opposite of the Alabama performance. Alabama played poorly and won in a landslide. LSU dominated and won by 10. The opponents were of similar quality. Teams like the Tide (win big in poorly played games) play for championships. Teams like LSU (win close in dominant games)play in the Chicken Bowl. LSU needs to learn how to close the deal.
4. JFF: Learned that the Dennis Green Theory applies to Manziel: he is who we thought he is.
5. Kentucky: Learned that basketball season is only a few months away.

Pretty accurate except that TCU is better than VT.

Um no. The opponents were not of similar quality dumbass. TCU would beat Va. Tech head to head. Alabama had two kick returns for tds. Take those away and its 21-10. Somehow i dont think thats dominating an opponent. Its the first game of the season. People need to stop analyzing teams after one game. By mid year, i expect LSU and Bama to playing there best.

are they?
If so, why?
For me it's real hard to tell this early on.
I watched both games FWIW

Yeah very early in the season to compare teams strength, IMO. As an LSU fan, I'm happy with the results from this weekend. Mett was accurate. TCU played tight defense/our wr couldn't get good separation in underneath routes. But I think LSU has better chance at finishiing 11-1 than 9-3.

LOL....I'd bet on TCU beating Va Tech by at least 2-3 touchdowns.

Funny, before the game, all we heard was about how VT was losing all of their players and how the game was not even going to be worth watching. Now, it's that they were a quality opponent since they popped Bama in the mouth a little.
TCU will wind up being ranked higher than VT at the end of the season. Book it.

Maybe they would, but tell me what you see from 1 game that makes you feel this way.

Very simple.....TCU had 2 qbs better than anything V Tech had. Catalon would be the best player on their team easily. TCU had at least 4-5 skill position players (WR and DB) that V Tech wishes they had.

I'm one of the sane people that thinks Bama will turn their ship around and won't lose much momentum (in their overall dynasty I suppose) from this game. I think obviously Bama is still the class of the SEC at this point. Although I do think LSU closed the gap a bit. That November night is gonna be big again boys

I didn't say anything definitively. Reread my posts.
I'm not sure, that's all.
I HOPE VT's D was a very good Defense.
Does this not make sense to you?

Have you seen VT's schedule? Makes Bama's look super strong.

Uh, chief, LSU did close the deal. Did you turn the TV off too soon or something?

I've got a friend who happens to be a bookie, and he'd really like to meet you.

So you are saying that TCU wouldn't be favored over Va Tech?

Well I agree with this. L Thomas sucks.
err, I mean our Defense is so incredible that we make an all-ACC QB look like shite.

It wouldn't shock me at all if they lost 3 more games.
Miami, Maryland, and one of UNC, Pitt, or GA Tech.
I just can't see where their points are going to come from. If they had any piece of the old Beamer Ball special teams then I could see it but they don't.
