Depth helped, but we kept getting push.

As much as our d was on the field and at Washingtons pace, they did pretty damn good. All things considered.

I was impressed that Wash State threw the 65 times and we only gave up 24 points.

Looks like we're going to have real leadership on the field for our defense. Instead of Holland picking grass out of his curls.

We played a lot more man on the outside in the second half, which made a difference. Also, Monty Adams played a ton more in the second half and he made a big difference as well.

Only allowed 80 passing yards on almost 30 attempts in the second half. If we can play like that for an entire game, the D can be better than I expected.

I've given up on the rant this morning, they are stuck in troll mode. And now that the season has started all the shitty randoms show up. I think Gus will whip this team in shape and we'll get better each week. And I'm not just saying that because I'm the captain Posibarner.

Three interceptions. More than all of last year, actually looked at the ball, plus gave up only 3 in the second half. I will take it.

I think I agree with you. You can see his intensity on the sidelines when something doesn't go right. I like that he's a perfectionist. Hopefully Nick gets his timing down and the D gets better each week.

Can't wait to see the starters, who are hurt, bake in the line up. The defense's progress makes me very happy.

There are different schemes where the off man is needed. Nobody plays press man all the time. However, we played a lot of it.

The conditioning and tackling was what gave me the most hope (outside of Holland)

Anyone know when Dee Ford will be back? They mentioned that he had a knee injury.

Tackling indeed. On more than one occasion it looked like a WSU player was going to slip through our tackle, and for the most part our guys held on. Sometimes shoe strings. MUCH different than last year.

I think our live fall practice clearly helped. Hard to learn to tackle without tackling.

I liked this as well. Gus and Garner were often in arse chewing mode on the sideline when they needed to be. Then Gus joked with Nick in the 4th late when he needed to take some pressure off on that second to last drive (when Mason fumbled). Gus did not look or act like someone who is in his first game as HC of a big time program. He looked to be in his element and handling business.
