Is Manziel a detriment? Is he embarrassing? He's gotten it up today in the news

Just a fair warning, I was accused of being an obsessed, terrified hick simply for standing up for another poster's right to post about this subject.

As the OP in this thread, you're doubtlessly subject to far, far worse.

From what I can tell- some do and some don't.

Some blame the media. While the media sucks, you take away the off season and the returning Heisman winner would still get talked about for getting that penalty IMO. Add in the off season and its Johnny's fault, he knows he's under a microscope. Doesn't make him satan but I have no sympathy for his woes either.

ESPN laying on the hyperbole. Detriment? Hasn't been so far. Who knows what the future holds. His teammates love him.

Embarrassment? At times. No more of an embarrassment than ESPN has been with their TMZ reporting. The only thing I took issue with was the Manning camp deal. Other than that it has largely been much ado about nothing.

Is he a douche? Yes. He is also a winner.

Journalism when ranked in order with honorable professions rates slightly above pedophilia, but certainly below armed robbery.

ESPN is trying to save face. ESPN owns college football. ESPN has a lot to loose, so the word is out to all of the commentators is to dis Johnny and A&M as much as possible.

On Johnny's penalty, the Rice player later tweeted that he was the one that took the verbal shot.

On the ejection, the Rice receiver said it was a clean hit.

ESPN has not even reported that.

Fox Sports 1 did.

Meanwhile the SEC coaches pre-season 1st team QB went down in flames Saturday. Johnny played 1 and half quarters and looked pretty good.

No problem. We can handle it.

Best of luck to everyone this year and see you in Atlanta.

It is very difficult for me to grasp.

Not saying you're wrong, but if they do love him, what does that say about the state of your program/team?

In no way should y'all competition this weekend be compared with Georgia's competition this weekend.
