Didn't he self-effacingly refer to himself as the "ol' ball coach?"

I think the media sort of decided 'head' would be better.

Don't know, but it's interesting how popular Spurrier is at South Carolina, compared to his days at Florida, when everyone hated him.

He was blowing people out on his way to winning SEC titles while at Florida.

He is competitive at Carolina.

Didn't want to spell it out, but that's what I was thinking, too.

Spurrier, while at Florida, used to always say, "I'm just calling ball plays out there..."

Reece Davis took the "ball plays" to the next level and started calling Spurrier the "Ole ball coach".

For some reason I think it's "Ole Ball Coach" and I have no idea when it started. Perhaps as he became the longest tenured or whatever it's called coach in the SEC. Kinda cool tho. I like coaches who have an attitude whether he's mine or not.

Now... Muschamp comes across to me as just a loud mouth and is the coach of my team. This is his 3rd year and he still irritates me a little.

I also think it's Ole Ball Coach. Don't know where Head Ball Coach came from, but it sounds sorta stupid. Maybe ESPN guys got confused, again.

It's ole ball coach. Spurrier didn't like the nickname and said he'd prefer to be called head ball coach hence the change
