Town.

I'm in a written mass media course right now, and we have to write a beat report each week. Well an idea I have always had is, what is the attitude and emotional outcome that is associated with wins and loses of a college football team, and what impact it has on the social scene of that town?

So what I'm asking is, to anyone that "goes out" before, during, and/or after a game, could they give me kinda a breakdown of the fans reaction to a win or loss of that game. Each week I'll be using that breakdown to write a story and try to decipher some of the differences of each town.

If anyone is interested on giving me their experience for each game let me know. If no one replies I guess I'll have to find a boring subject to write about.

I will not use your name or SN, I will be using an alias on all stories.

Knoxville game day:

Pregame: Thousands of people pre gaming on or around the hill. Same amount at BBQs etc around the city before kick off.

During: Sneak alcohol in game, continue drinking.

After the game:

Win: Thousands of shite faced UT fans from the Strip and Market Square to the bars in deep west Knoxvill.

Loss: Thousands of shite faced UT fans crying. Half the turn out to the down town and city wide bars. More crying

Same thing except insert any college town and where they go out to. I believe there is a well founded correlation between wins/losses and the local economy in any town with a sports team. Unless you're Houston.

Well I'm looking more for each individual game. What are the fans talking about? What are the social gatherings they are going to? (Names of bars/restaurants) Like I said it's going to be a beat for each week. I'm more so looking for volunteers to give me a story of their weekend, not a generalization of each place. I can get that by reading a travel guide.

the local economy

Not looking for that.

No problem. I'll try to give as wide a view as possible of what game weekend is like before and after a loss/win.

From what I've noticed no matter win or lose pretty much the same amount of people go out and drink/get drunk. Difference is if its a win the mood is definitely more excited and wild especially after a big win.

I doubt you'll find that any place is more or less devastated than any other, if that's what you're looking for. It's all about expectations, so if you want to look at the most passionate fan base in the SEC, Texas A&M, then that would probably be the only fan base that reacts. Aggies will be devastated if we lose to an Alabama team we should beat when we have the greatest college football player of all time who should deliver us a national championship that we have been waiting on longer than anyone can remember. Otherwise, everything will be just the same. LSU fans will be just as sad after a loss, and just as happy after a win as the gumps will. The "social scenes" will be identical.

Just use the ESPN method and cite 'un-named sources' for all your material. A+ guaranteed.
