I of course watch the games but 75% of the time I couldn't tell you who is 1st and 2nd in the division. Am I unusual in this?

I pay very little attention to anyone that isn't Alabama.

I pay more attention to the teams we're going to play.

Of course I have more interest in the West, but I pay plenty of attention to the East.

I can't always tell you the exact order of the West.

I follow all college football closely, and the East as much as the West.

There's another division?

Seriously, the SEC East typically played their big games in September, so the race was over before October. Once it was over, I admit I barely cared what happened after that.

Glad to see I'm not crazy. I thought I was unusual.

It's just so frustrating figuring out the tie breakers and rankings in our own division that I just say frick it when it comes to the other division.

And truth be told, the West is stronger than the East right now so I don't care who the East sends to the CG, they will be easier to beat than Bama.

Always. Helps get an idea of how good the East teams are that we have to play and then who is going to be in the Championship game.

Yes, you are unusual in doing that of which you described.

I've already skipped forward to Saturday a week and set my DVR to automatically tune to every SEC game that day since it'll be the last Saturday when I get to watch that many.

So how closely do you follow? Would I be able to ask you what the standings are in the West at any point In the season?

Absolutely ... along with key stats, injuries, scores throughout the season, upcoming games, etc.

In the 90s maybe, the old Florida/Tennessee games the third weekend in September. But that was a long time ago IMHO. Those days are long gone.

This decade the East is always decided late in the season, usually November when UGA/Florida and/or UF/SCAR play. Apparently, the winner of the UGA/SCAR game in September (last year October 5) has no bearing on who wins the East although it certainly means something in the overall scheme of things.
