Will Alabama just go downhill or will the winning continue? Thoughts?

The same thing that has happened throughout history any time Bama isn't under or coming off of NCAA sanctions.

Bama hires since 1982:

Perkins - bad
Curry - bad
Stallings - good
DuBose - bad
Franchione - bad
Price - bad
Shula - bad
Saban - good

Of course Mal (RIP), who had a hand in practically every one of those hires, isn't around any more. I guess it ultimately depends on who comes out on top of the inevitable power struggle in the wake of Saban's departure.

Wouldn't be a bad idea, seriously Tressel's a great coach.

Bama will pay a good coach an excessive amount to move to Tuscaloosa, but you can't buy another Saban.

This is the assumption I'm working under. I'm pretty sure I won't see another period THIS good in my lifetime and I'm enjoying it while I can. But, Bama will always be a power, with the odd down period thrown in.

The world will end, not with a bang, but with a whimper.

Bama will promote Smart and they will fall off a bit. Their fans will run him out of town.

Bama was one of college football's historic powers before Saban and will be after Saban, too. That said, Bama won't win at this current rate because no one else has in over 50 years. It's atypical. Bama will still be a top program and a draw for top recruits.
