tl;dr version:

quote:

On another note, there apparently isn't a decision in the battle between James DeLoach and Leonard Floyd to start at outside linebacker. Grantham indicated that both will play a lot of snaps, and their performance will dictate what happens going forward.

quote:

Defensive line coach Chris Wilson said he feels comfortable with six players right now, though he didn't want to say who comprises those six. Senior defensive end Garrison Smith remains the player who has most separated himself from the rest, which isn't surprising given he's the only returning starter.

But Wilson did single out another player: Sterling Bailey, who finished the spring as the first-team defensive end, but has had a quieter preseason.

"Sterling Bailey has done some things that have helped his cause," Wilson said. "We'll obviously be preparing him till we kick the ball off. So that's the thing, you've gotta see the guys - everybody likes to play. We've gotta find guys that like to win. That's kind of what we're developing right now."

And Shaq Wiggins is back, had an interception last night.

Everything you expect. Plus this:

One thing Bobo did make clear: Quayvon Hicks remains the clear No. 1 fullback, Bobo reiterated. Top backup Merritt Hall will definitely play too, but Bobo said Hicks has had a strong preseason and deserves to play.

To be honest, I think the jury is still out on Grantham as a top DC. He seemed to have the talent to work with the last 2 seasons and while the defense improved significantly we still weren't SEC caliber vs the run. With mostly a new group of young players on defense, frankly I'm hoping we will be OK but expecting less.

Jury has reached a verdict on Grantham...he's not top notch. He's fiery and brings that to our team, which is good, "top notch" DC's don't have shite-tastic games for half the season where we give up 200+ rushing yards.

Not to mention is bullshite flirting with the NFL. If he plays the silent game again when asked if he's goin to stay or go, I hope McGarrity tells him to kick rocks because we can find someone better.

Grantham has improved the scoring defense on this team 3 years in a row.

That deserves some credit.
Maybe even more credit considering how few points we gave up versus how many yards opponents had to earn.

He's fine.

Look what he replaced. It could not have gotten any worse than Wille.

Its hard to disagree with this; however, he only had 24 scholarship players last year. Who exactly was he going to rotate in when the defense got tired?

Richt, since lack of bodies is his fault.

I've actually been waiting for him to say that, but it won't happen.
