I looked it up, and this will be the third time (since Arkansas joined the SEC) that we have had a new coach after winning 4 or fewer games the previous season.

Oddly enough, it looks as though we improve in this scenario, despite having a new coach and coaching philosophy.

1992 (3-7-1)
1993 (6-4-1) *Thanks Alabama for the forfeit

1997 (4-7)
1998 (9-3)

My prediction for this upcoming year is 6-6, but really would like to see another 9-3 (if anything so that 2B's would have a better start than HDN).

7-5

I think we upset Florida

I really like how our defense matches up against their offense

1998 you had an upperclassman QB, great WR, good RB, and good defense. Ford was close to turning the corner with his "wide open passing attack" change after 96 that led to his record in 97 and his firing.

Bert inherits a first year starter QB, RBs and WRs with potential and a defense that is questionable, at best, for the back 7.

At least 6 wins, even with a schedule that is much, much more brutal than Ford or Nutt's first season.

Very good point. I guess I didn't put too much stock in the QB/WR position as I figured we would shift more to a running offense. Last year sucked because everyone knew we were a passing O, and when Tyler went out (and Knile really wasn't 100%) we got rocked.

I guess overall, if we don't have a solid RB core and D, it could be a long year.

I'm still going with 8-4. I'm picking us to beat Florida, as well.

The only thing comparable from 1998 & this year is we start out with ULL. Ole Miss, Auburn, LSU, and Bama were horrible that year.

ETA: If Pittman does to our OL what he did to UT's during the first year I could easily see us hitting 7/8 wins.

I feel better about this team than I did during the spring. They looked like they had the potential to be a decent team this year. I didn't add any wins to my prediction for this year, but I feel we will be much more competitive than we were last year, and by the end of the season we will be a tough, disciplined team that has momentum going into 2014.

We'll look like a pretty good team this year, it just wont show in the W column. I do think our secondary will provide for a few wtf moments though.

Passing teams are still going to move the ball on us. We will be stout against the run.
