This normally sounds like a premier, national matchup. We've seen how Virginia Tech has performed of as of late. I really wanna believe that they can keep it close, but I have a feeling Alabama will beat them much like Michigan and Notre Dame. Do any of you agree? Disagree?

Alabama - 34
Virginia Tech -13

Same thoughts. I think it'll be at least a 21 point win after the attrition the last few weeks they've gone through.

no way. virginai tech can only beat acc teams and they don't even start playing until october each year. their hc doesn't require much from his players.

Bama fans will be going crazy with doomsday predictions if we don't cover the spread (currently a 22 point favorite).

Oh and just for an interesting side note, Bama has won and beaten the spread in it's last 10 BCS level non conference games in a row.

I was in Vegas about 5 years ago. Had a big parlay ticket. I covered the spread on 7 games except for Bama not being able to beat Tulane by more than 20.5 pts.

I know they're not BCS but wtf.

They may hold for a half.

Virginia Tech used the scout team and walk-ons against the starters in their spring game to try and give the 1st team some confidence and play up to the loyal fans.

That backfired in their faces. They struggled against the scrubs mightily. It was so laughable, it was sickening.

This game will not even be a good barometer as to just how good Alabama really is this upcoming season.

Bud Foster is a really good DC. I see a 10 to 13 point win for Bama. They'll keep it close for a half.

I don't see how this is even close. Let's just give VT the benefit of the doubt and say that the defense is salty enough this year that they can keep Alabama from scoring at will.

Assuming that, VT's offense was pretty bad last year, they lost their 2 top WR's and literally 4 RB's in the last couple of months.

Also the hired Scot Loefler as the offensive coordinator, which to me, is the kiss of death for any offense.

I believe that VT's defense will disrupt Alabama's OL and make the first half kind of a blood bath for both offenses, but in the end, Alabama has a senior QB, good WRs and RBs, and a decent offensive coordinator, and although that line may struggle at times against a decent VT front, they'll get their act together.

But VT WILL NEVER SCORE. Maybe a couple of field goals, perhaps Logan Thomas scrambles for a long TD against the 2nd string defense, but the offense just won't be good enough to beat Alabama unless Alabama has multiple turnovers.

I say 38-13 Alabama. It'll be close-ish at half, maybe something like 17-6 or something. But VT's defense will get tired and Alabama will take control in the 2nd half.
