He often (and incorrectly) gets the wrap of "check down QB". I've seen other fans point to screens, dumps, and slants to claim his high completion percentage is a propped up number. They claim he's not accurate deep. I saw this stat this morning which completely destroys that argument:

AJ completed 57.8% of passes over 15 yards in 2012. That percentage was best in the country among BCS AQ passers with 100+ attempts.

Pretty good article on this. AJ was, by a pretty wide margin, the most effective downfield passer in CFB last year. His intermediate passing still needs some work though.

ETA: It's also interesting how AJ gets the dreaded game manager label despite the fact that EJ Manuel, Geno Smith, Aaron Murray, and Landry Jones all threw a higher % of their passes behind the LOS.

I think Nuss also said AJ did something like 80% between 35-39 yard passes, or something like that.

I'm excited to see what Nuss can do with our offense this season. Got a chance to talk with him privately last summer and I think he is a class act.

I really wanna see the passing game and how explosive it can be, if CNS will let it. First play I say bomb it to Cooper to set the tone.
