Why do some people rank each team on where the think the team will end up ...

and then continue taking SOS into account during the season? This is opposed to just ranking each team as its perceived current strength without taking the remaining schedule into account until after each game is played.

Makes no sense and is backwards logic imo.

They should do away with preseason polls altogether, but sadly that's really feasible. If they didn't release their own, a lot of them would simply use publication preseason polls instead.

They have to start the polls somewhere though. Its just a pet peeve when I hear something like "They would be ranked higher if they didn't have to play 2 top ten teams at the end of the season."
