Okay, my friends and I travel once a year to Bennett Springs to fly fish. Whenever we arrive it's like going back in time 20 years. For instance: frosted tips, jnco jeans, oversized basketball jerseys, Doc Martens, etc. Is there any other place that you have gone to stuck in one era? Just curious.

well this is a little different than what you're asking for but about ~10 years ago i was with a crew that ended up at a blytheville grocery store for about 2 hours. (tunica, money lost, someone was supposed to be getting a money wire from the bank, etc lol).

anyway, people were walking up and down the rows in the grocery store smoking. i really felt like i'd traveled back to to 1976.

I can't lie I laughed. I wish you would have gone to a hospital to see if they had ashtrays in the waiting room.

That brings back memories of going to the grocery store in the mornings with my grandmother when I was a little girl, seeing every woman in hair rollers and a scarf over their head, "Jeanie" silver or gold slippers, and a cig in their mouth or hand.

That's hilarious. A buddy of mine wouldn't go to Art's for a burger because they still smoke in there and I convinced him by saying "dude, its not any worse than going to the drug store soda fountain when we were kids, because everybody in there was smoking, too".

Its amazing how places used to be full of smoke. If I ever encounter that smell combination of fast food and cigarette smoke, I am instantly taken back to childhood.

I know what you mean about certain smells taking you back, and when I was young, cigarettes were common and very socially acceptable, so that smell is very much intertwined with my childhood memories, especially in restaurants.

There was a locally owned hamburger joint in my hometown (still the best greasy cheeseburger I've ever eaten) that was run by a woman who cooked & served them to us with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. Good times.
