Baylor wasn't allowed to play nonconference games for 1 season as a result of that.
With as shitty as our nonconference schedule is and as shitty as we are in general right now (making me not want to watch anyway) I'd be absolutely fine if we get caught and lose nonconference games.
I'm with the rest of you: We have to be paying these kids or their parents and I am 100% fine with that. We have nothing to lose.

What are the odds Kyler plays pro baseball? I've heard from multiples "sources" that he's projected as a first round pick.

We have more money than MLB.

Those sources wouldn't be affiliated with LSU by chance...

No, very much Ags. Saw a quote from Kyler's baseball coach saying he's heard from multiple scouts that he's a sure fire 1st round pick

Was it the one from like a year ago? Because there was one that went around all message boards from like a year ago and Kendall Rogers kind of shot it down.
I have no idea if he's good enough to go really high (I know he's a very good player) but signability is a huge part of where they go. A team isn't going to waste a first round, comp pick or really any pick in the first few rounds on someone they think they have no shot of signing.
So in short, if he goes really high it's probably a real possibility
I'm pretty sure money isn't a concern and I think he really likes A&M so I'm not too concerned about it. I know he plays infield now but I have no idea how he projects as far as playing the OF and such or if he would stick in the middle infield

Was just relaying info I'd been told and wanted to get yalls opinion. Personally, I feel pretty good about him being in Maroon and White.

He would be the first ever 2B drafted in the 1st round. Just saying.

There is literally a second baseman playing on my TV right now who was taken in the first round
ETA: actually both of them were, didn't realize Panik was as well. You need to check your facts before you go spewing this stuff. You really think in like 60 years of the MLB draft there hasn't been a 2B taken in the first round? Come on man
Also the position he plays in HS means absolutely nothing. I have no idea where he's supposed to project at the next level

Check the draft history. No 1st rounders were drafted as 2nd basemen.

Should have clarified...out of HS

The wiry, athletic 5-foot-11, 180-pound Murray played second base for his high school team this year but will likely move to shortstop, though some scouts see his future in the outfield with his plus speed.

If he was at the UA baseball game I'd say he has pretty significant interest from scouts. It will probably depend on what he wants to do and the type of year he has this year. Even if the goes in he fourth or fifth round he could easily sign

Out of HS is probably correct.
Posted on 10/16/14 at 10:12 pm to Warrior Poet
but it's kind of irrelevant. The reason is that in HS, most MLB quality 2B are playing SS. Chuck Knoblauch was a HS SS. He was a long time MLB 2B.
SS is a more important position (by far). Virtually every MLB 2B that was drafted out of HS started out his minor league career as a SS because if you don't have the arm for SS, you don't have the tools to be a 1st round pick out of HS. And if you do have the arm for SS you are almost always playing it in HS.
Kyler's arm is not the reason he plays 2B. And so if Kyler becomes a 1st round pick, it will probably list him as OF or SS because the team that drafts him projects him there. And the arbitrary data point will still be true.
Sucks for Wacha

This was my original point that was lost and it sounds like he will be playing SS for Allen this year anyways.
They put Wacha in a hell of a spot throwing him out there like they did. Matheny will have a lot of questions to answer about how he handled their bullpen in this series

Hence why I said probably correct

Matheny makes Ron Washington look like a good game manager.
His "just getting to the playoffs" may work at places like Texas (where just getting to .500 is an accomplishment most years). It won't work in St. Louis where the fans expect more. They need to dump him.
