Should we disregard specific schemes and focus on the general cases? There are many factors that may deserve consideration, but that'll complicate things unless we narrow the topic down to a specific style of play.

I'd like to read your opinions regarding the position groups first because the main question/task here is tough.

I hope to find a few arguments that I could stand behind regarding which position groups are the most difficult.

The Position Groups
Quarterback
Offensive Linemen
Running Backs
Receivers/Tight Ends
Defensive Linemen
Linebackers
Defensive Backs
Kickers
Return Men
Blockers (general; kickoff, punt, offensive situations)
Punt Team
Kickoff Team

I'll tentatively state that the secondary is the hardest group to play. I believe defending the run is easier than defending the pass, but I'm not sure how to proceed with arguing that point. In general, offensively I believe quarterback is the toughest position group.

Overall, I think I'd lean towards cornerback then maybe safety being the two most difficult positions to play, but I'm open to opposing views.

I shouldn't have to say this, but you aren't obligated to critique every position group. Please critique the ones you know or have observed well. I'd like to hear your strongest opinions. Let's keep it civil though.

CB is nowhere near the most difficult. It's actually a position where you can rely a ton on raw talent.

QB
OL
DL
LB
Safety
RB
WR/CB

A CB is the most difficult/important for the defensive side of the ball because its the one position that can win or lose a game. They can either get a game changing pick or get beat on a deep ball. The line has the backers behind them, backers have the dbs behind them; only thing behind the dbs is the endzone.

QB is obvious

Depends on the schemes you run. If you have a team led by a guy like JFF, then your receivers and offensive linemen have the most difficult jobs period because they never know what their blocking assignment might be on a particular play.

I agree. I would say a db, ol, an qb in my top 3. special team next(one third of the game in one coaches hand). QB depends on your team.

Not buying OL as the second most difficult. Not even close.

I played safety in highschool and its actually not that hard. First priority is the tight end if he runs his route but if hes just blocking your pretty much just not letting anything get behind you since you are the last line of defense. Well thats an extremely simple way to describe the position. Its definetely the funnest position on the field i know that.

That is just so wrong, playing comer sucks. How many freshman stud CB do you see? How many rookie Corner do well in the league?

Excluding quarterback, Corner is that hardest position to switch levels.
