BIG DADDY showed up on the trail camera when we checked it yesterday. Now I'm more pumped than ever for college football and deer season.

I live in Cleveland, TN, just outside of Chattanooga above the Georgia line. I hunt in a small town called Georgetown, TN that's right outside of Cleveland. The mountain range is White Oak mountain that stretches a good ways across East Tennessee.

Very nice! That's a big deer for Tennessee, at first I thought it was a mainframe 10 but then there's a kicker off his right main beam. Deer does look young, 3 year old?

Yeah, I wanna say he's 3 years old. 4 years old is possible just because of that crazy antler growth and the junk he's got down near his brow tines but we got a few pics of him last season and he looked young then like he was likely 2 years old last season. Here are those pics, you can see that kicker on his right side like you mentioned.

You gonna take that beautiful beast down with a bow or are you a rifleman?

I hunt with both. I'd love just to see him anytime during the year but taking him during bow would be a dream come true, tbh.

It's ok, I guess, to settle for a little deer like that.

Agreed. Unless he comes within bow range in September. Then unleash the fury.

Reminds me of the last time I was in Franklin's back when I was at UGA. Two idiots came in looking to get ".458 or .460 shells to go deer huntin'"

The older guy behind the counter just stared at them for about 30 seconds, then said: "Deer? Georgia deer?" Then walked away, muttering.

Or, if it's leased land that you don't manage, go ahead and kill the fricker before someone else does.

You ever run into any bears out there? I got chased out by two bears last October, south of Athens on public land. LAst thing I expected to see while scouting, unarmed.

Chased...... like John Candy.

Nope, no bears here. And we hunt on leased land so if he ever shows up he's a shooter for sure.
