After netting a dozen offers from Division 1 programs, Doherty narrowed the field to a final two of Mizzou and Oregon. A versatile athlete with great speed, he took All-State honors in 2014 at both running back and defensive back. Though he projects as an RB, he could see time in the Tigers secondary.

"They are still saying they are going to leave it up to me," Doherty said of the Tigers coaching staff. "I talked to Coach Grinch and Coach Jones, and they are both on the same page. I'm going to start on one side and see how the roster shakes out. If I have a better shot on the other side, we'll flip it."

Sounds like he'll start out at RB on offense. I keep hearing Strong will probably have to go JUCO, so it's nice to replace one 4* RB with another.

well that is some good news! so what do you think our RB situation is now?

If everyone qualifys we have:

Hanbrough
Steward
Witter
Whalters
Strong
Abbington
Doughtery
Williams and whatever walk ons.

If Strong did go JUCO that's still a lot of depth, at least 1 or 2 could expect to play slot some as well I suppose, I still see Zanders taking some snaps there.

We have more good RB's than WR's.

So weird.

With our offense, and the qb's we have I can't believe we don't have some good 4 or 5 star WR's ready to commit to us for the early playing time.

Why didn't the hire of haith, addition of fuller and commitment of Wainwright land us casey hill, julius candle and matt Jones? That was the smoke due to connection to wainwright, we got none of them.

Why do the overwhelming majority of legacy recruits go anywhere but Mizzou?

Wainwright is averaging just over 2 pts a game as a soph.at this point looks like Baylor would encourage him to move on.

I get being loyal to the first coach that recruited you, but these aren't those coaches. Nate Howard belongs at Mizzou.

If a local DLineman passes on an offer from Missouri, it's his loss.

Some kids just want to get away from home. Considering Missouri isn't the most exciting state on earth, it's understandable.

"Right now I don't really know where I am as far as staying with Wisconsin or leaving, but I have legitimate interest in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa."

Wisconsin's two conference rivals were previously involved with Howard, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound defensive end from St. Louis (MO) Ladue Horton Watkins, but noticeably absent from that group is Missouri.

"I don't have much interest in them," Howard said in regards to the home-state Tigers. "Those three -- Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois -- and probably Syracuse are the schools I'm really looking at."

Just bringing this forward. I would also suggest that they re-think Howard's visit and maybe cancel it. I'd hate for him to poison the well if his feeling about Mizzou are that strong.

I wonder if we are cooling on Howard with increased interest from the Davis twins. There's only so many spots open and those guys are a package. If we did cool on him, his response shows it.

Sounds like what I told my friends after a girl rejected me.

I've been to 41 states and Missouri is where this old boy wants to be. You can have rest.

Not exciting? If you are a couch bound thumbster maybe. Try boating, hiking, floating, hunting, fishing, shooting, etc and it gets plenty exciting.

that's the kind of kid Mizzou shouldn't waste another second/letter trying to recruit. If you're that dumb, you don't belong.
