Have this conversation a good bit with my Auburn friends. I go back and forth. I don't know how I'd deal with a 3 win season.

Didn't UGA have a 6 win season around 2008? And have zero to show for anything since ha has been there

Very happy Chizik was hired and thank him for his service. I will take one down year for a undefeated natty season with a heisman. Yes

No as bad as Tubs got towards the end of his tenure we still had our edge as a program. I never once felt it was impossible to get the ship turned around.

Do you think Chiz was the only one who could have gotten Cam and Malzahn to Auburn and that championship?

Our defense was still worth a shite in 2008. Our offense and defense in 2012 were the worst teams we have fielded in our ~ 120 years of playing football. Who was better as a QB? Chris Todd or Kiehl Frazier? We could have turned the program around in 2009 with Tubs. Remember our 2009 squad had 24 juniors. It won't be until 2015 that I expect Malzahn to get the program where it needs to be hence the JUCO players we have recruited.

Yes, a National Championship and getting to watch the best college player I've ever seen play in our stadium was worth it.

Hell yes, I'm glad he came. I hate how it ended, but we got a MNC, and he left the cupboard with great athletes...they just need to be coached up, which seemingly is his downfall. Put it this way, he left us with a lot more talent than he acquired.

Not sure, but say what you will about his on-field coaching abilities, but he was masterful at keeping that team focused. It was nothing short of amazing.

If I were an Auburn fan I would certainly think it is worth it. To be honest I think Gene knew what he was getting into and even knew it could go south. He was rotting away after a stupid decision to go to Iowa St. and was in purgatory. Auburn threw his a life line but I am sure informed him of the Cam situation and said that is just gonna be part of this deal. Gene says hell yea. Gets saved - gets some $$ and the rest is history. He was set up to be the fall guy for that MNC run all along. The awesome thing for Auburn is it worked.

Now Auburn will rebuild. They will be back. No doubt.

Last month, Newton and his father, a pastor, told Sports Illustrated that the younger Newton decided to transfer from Florida in early January 2009 when Tim Tebow opted to remain for his senior year, a move that would have forced Newton into backup status for another season.

Gene was hired in December 2008.

You know how to use a calendar. Nice try. Plus I would think it takes a while to get the deal done you think. You don't think he had any idea Cam was being pursued?

When will some learn. Ill give you a chance to withdraw any further critique.

I would think this board of all places knows how shite gets done. If you don't - I'm telling you.
