Damn good get for Mizzou. I hope all the nuclear programs from SEC schools are represented. Should be a good time for everyone.

Thanks for bringing this to our athletic conference. It will be very helpful on the road to 8 in a row.

Isn't nuclear fusion energy either:
a) too dangerous (turn the world into the sun)
b) impossible, like perpetual motion

I don't think we've found all potential energy sources, but I think nuke fusion is impossible without destroying our planet.

Not sure you are joking, but the SEC is more than an athletic conference. I thought everyone knew about the SECC.

In short, no. They have been performing high temp fusion reactions on this planet since the 1920s. The hydrogen bomb was a fusion reaction. It isn't a "dangerous" technology per say.

Cool. Maybe it was "cold" fusion that was total bullshite, like perpetual motion machines?

Anyway, congrats....I guess. Good job, Ruffians.

It was once thought to be, but this conference is about just that. Cold fusion. There have been relatively recent events that point to cold fusion coming sooner rather than later. That is the point of the conference.

Now I'm intrigued.

I'm no engineer, but doesn't cold fusion violate one of the laws of thermodynamics?

Not really possible to say since our current understanding of physics is so limited. Until the true unified laws of physics are determined, we don't really know what can and can't be done.

But seriously, I get what you're saying. Fusion technology would have minimal impact on the environment, unlike Fission nuclear plants. We need to get away from fission technology or plan for more disasters like Fukishima, Chernobyl,
3 Mile Island...

I'd say there will be some people from UT-Battelle's ORNL/US ITER project there.

US ITER
