@MsStateBaseball: NEW COMMIT | LHP/1B Cole Gordon of Lutz FL. He is 6-5 230. A 2014 enrollee. More info to come later. Welcome, Cole!
Max Preps has him batting a .422 with 7 bombs as a junior. Only 4.1 innings pitched, but a lot of HS coaches do a terrible job keeping max preps updated properly.
No idea what we signed him as.

Good article on him and explains why he didn't pitch much last year.

Good pick up. We're going to need a little power in the lineup.

Does anyone want to go ahead and get a timeshare in Omaha?

Bump
@MsStateBaseball: As reported by @GeneSwindoll we picked up a LHP 2014 commit. Paxton Stover of Dyer Tn. Cohen's version of Jon Hardin. Strikeout machine.

Maxpreps has this guy as the 134th best player in the country and the 5th best in TN

Cohen and crew doing work this summer. Stover is also a ginger. Cohen always likes to have a few of those on the team.

Y'all know anything about him? Power arm? Ross Mitchell type?

Todd seems to think he's a left-handed version of Justin Pigott... So, crafty with a mid-high 80s fastball. His K numbers are really high though, so his offspeed stuff and/or control must be pretty nasty.
Still hoping for a flame-throwing lefty at some point for the 2014 class -- but we've got plenty of time.

These are so hard to get. If you can dial 93+ from the left side out of HS with any type of accuracy, then you're going to get drafted fairly high.

Sounds like a good pick up.

This is a good point, Req.

I agree totally. I'd think we'd have a pretty good shot of pulling them(at least in the commitment stage) at this point, but the draft will always be a concern with that type of elite talent. Hell, the 2014 class is already a bit volatile with Vallot and Swinarski both blowing up. I guess that's just something we will have to adjust to going forward as we recruit more nationally elite players...
I'd be happy with a "project" lefty @ 89-91 in highschool with a prototype build that Butch could work with on those last couple of MPH to make them truly elite...
Going to need someone in Lindgren's role after next season, I'm afraid(if he's what I expect him to be)...

We're on another guy in the c/o 2015 in Georgia named Chris Cullen that's an absolute monster. Plays on TeamUSA with Luke Alexander. Was rumored to be committing to us awhile back, but don't know what ever came of it. Maxpreps has him currently rated as the 2nd best prospect in the state of Georgia for his age and #13 nationally, so he might be elite enough that it doesn't really matter either way...
