This exactly what I've said so many times to people in real life, and I think on here. St. Louis has no connection with the state of Missouri, it's like an urban and suburban island all to it's own. No connection or allegiance to this so called Missourah. Living in STL my whole life, and now in the country I see it big time. I see Mizzou flags and lawn chairs all the time. I hear people use the word Missouri a lot, it's just a totally different atmosphere. I really hate the stuck up attitude of STL... it's pretty bad.

"I don’t know how many people in St. Louis really identify with Missouri the state. They think of themselves as being STL. It’s not so much (about) the rest of the state.” Desmet coach.

STL is not chicago where people refuse to identify with the state.....that statement could not be more wrong how could you say STL does not identify with Mizzou when 84% of kids coming out of highschool in STL go to Mizzou....and the Mizzou store in chesterfield does pretty well. Also you see a lot more people wearing mizzou apparel since the SEC move its the recruits who dont want to be a part of Pinkels sinking ship. The offense was pathetic last year and why go to Mizzou for a sub par season when you can go to Ole Miss with more hype and swinging in the right direction. Gary is just cancer to this team right now and until we fire him I wouldnt expect much from the team performance wise.....I would just find some distraction in the mean time til haiths crew takes the court again.

I believe you greatly misunderstood what I said.

STL does not identify with the state of Missouri, people from St. Louis are not proud Missourians, they would never consider themselves Missourians, they're St. Louisans. If you go around the country (particularly in the south) you see way way way more affection for the state you're from. You may be from ATL but you're a Georgian above all, it's not that way in STL.

There is no way 84% of STL hs graduates go to Mizzou. There is a strong contingent that do though, but they're still not Missouri proud. Play beer league with maybe 10 Mizzou kids, and they're just St. Louisans, they love MIzzou but they're not proud of the backwoods hoosierness perception of Missouri.

Exactly right. But that's because people from St. Louis live in a bubble and know nothing of their state which makes them mostly ignorant. Missouri isn't a hoosier state. Farmers do not equal backwooded hoosiers. Many farmers are college educated upstanding citizens who work hard to not only feed America but the rest of the world. Not to mention that many farmer have more money than God.

Are they thanked for their invaluable contribution to society? No. St. Louis douchebags refer to all rural people as ignorant backwooded hoosiers (a favorite STL derogatory word for uneducated hick) while the STL douchebags play soccer, attend private school, and find it not only funny but also appropriate to be the most racist people in Missouri.

To be honest, the rest of Missouri is better than most of the douchebags from STL. If anything, we should completely disown the STL metropolitan area because they seem more like idiots from Illinois than Missouri.

However, we'll keep the Cardinals and simply change the name to Missouri Cardinals because that is more accurate than St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals don't deserve to be associated with soccer douchebags who reflect poorly on the brand.

Missouri Cardinals? That sounds retarded, tell the rest of the state to pitch in on paying off the stadium and ball park village then.....so bc stl is a soccer hot bed that makes the whole city a bunch of douchebags wow if we didnt have so many pro teams I'm sure there would be a bigger presence in Columbia we could either put our money towards the rams or watch Pinkels team run out of gas by the 3rd quarter and get blown out just like the field of dreams build it and they will come when Gary wants to start chalking up quality wins and not wins against teams like university Indiana purdue western state community college of north Alaska people will start dropping some coin on going to see the tigers play

Is the hook stuck in your mouth? The fact that you responded in that way negates anything else you said in your post.

Trolling? Nooooooooo...

But if there were trolls on the board, run-on sentences are like a four course meal for trolls. Food for thought, pun intended.

The Missouri Cards things is obviously not serious. But the stuff about St. Louisans not wanting to classify themselves as Missourians is for real.

I get what you are saying with this and agree with some of it but drawing the ATL to Georgia reference is kinda off. Atlanta is so much different than the rest of the state and really doesn't claim the Georgia part. Most people in the city think of the rest of the country as being country and do not take as much pride in the Georgia as the ATL. People in GA outside of ATL take a tremendous amount of pride in the state. SO in this instance I think it is actually more like what you are saying about STL or CHI.

Meh, these arguments happen a lot when dealing with urban vs rural areas within states.
