Are there any academic programs you would sacrifice to keep the football team

I'm sure most of us would have no problem saying we would let the softball or golf (men and women) teams go in order to ensure football would remain but what about academic programs? For example, I would be tempted to advocate getting rid of the AU College of Human Sciences if it meant the football team would stay.

You realize that a large percentage of Bama fans are unaware there is a college associated with their football team, right?

I would sacrifice performing arts.

Nope
I will be in a clear minority but I still believe the academic side is the reason a university exist
Don't care what foolish waste if academic program people throw out there. Someone is enrolled in it for whatever reason
But I'd give up my own finger or two to help LSU keep football

this is actually a tricky question because if you sacrifice shitty majors you risk losing some of your best players

Tons of academic programs I would sacrifice if it meant keeping the football team. Basically any program that earning a degree in could result in a job as a barista is on the chopping block.

The English dept outside of ENC 1101 and 1102 because the world will be a better place with fewer English majors.

This is an odd hypothetical

You realize in this current economy that means every academic program right?

Ultimately, I think this is the view I would take if I really had to choose. But I do think there are certain majors that really do not belong at a four year university. Hotel and restaurant management, for example, can be a great and challenging career. But do you really need a degree from a university in order to be successful? What's wrong with a trade school or apprenticeship?

Great point.

Was watching Family Feud a week or so ago (yeah, I know, shut up) and one of the contestants had a Masters in... ready? Puppetry. Not a BS/BA, a Masters. It boggles the mind. I think we could probably all agree that we'd be willing to let go of our Puppetry programs (if they existed) to save the football team. Other than that, though, I'm with the sage LSU fan who said "Nope".

I knew a rec and leisure studies sorostitute. Yeah that could go to save the football team.
