My beloved Buccaneers have selected Carl Torbush as the head coach when the program restarts in 2015.

I know he has made several stops in the SEC. What's A&M, Bama, Miss State, etc. opinion on his coaching abilities?

He produced very solid defenses at North Carolina, but was an awful head coach there. He had a great 2002 defense at Alabama, but was beyond awful at Texas A&M.

Unfortunately, this statement rings true. My first and only reaction when I hear or read the name Torbush is this:

What does ETSU expect to gain by rejoining the watered down Southern Conference? If your going to play football again, you need to have both feet in or both feet out. Nobody wants to watch Southern Conference football. ETSU should join either the MAC or the Sunbelt. Otherwise, the fan support will wither like it did before.

Was terrible @ A&M, but I bear him no ill will. Hopefully, for him, much of the problem was Franchione.

About all I can say is he was a better hire than Gary Darnell.

At least Torbush was still coaching when Fran brought him on.

He was awful at State, so much so he developed the nickname Torchbrush. Because his d was constantly getting burned so bad.

Torbush had a very good defense at Alabama in 2002. I really wish Alabama had just kept him as the interim coach, instead of hiring Price. At the end of the day, Alabama would have been no worse off with Torbush than they were with Shula.

Mullen didnt fire him... He left MSU to accept the DC job at Kansas... Torbush was great at Ole Miss in the mid 80s... He parlayed that into the head coaching job at La Tech I think.

Torbush was always behind the 8ball with Franchione sinking the ship.
