On the eastern side of the state, you'll find a few Royals fans, a few more Chiefs fans, but generally it's Cards and Rams country.

The Illinois rivalry wasn't that big a deal except in St. Louis; the Braggin' Rights game in December is always a hot ticket. But anyone who is a Mizzou fan hates kU with a passion. That goes way beyond sports too. And we don't respect kansas enough to capitalize the k.

I had no idea Illinois had a lot of alum in STL. Was wondering why the STL Post Dispatch had an Illini sports section. That's why I thought people on that side hated Illinois more.

No, ther eare a lot of Illini alumni in St. Louis. Not as many as Mizzou, but a strong second.

Didn't know where else to post this and didn't feel it deserved a thread of it's own, but was driving the kids to get something to eat tonight and the daughter starts screaming at me if I saw that. Thought it was an accident. Turns out, she said the car that was driving right next to us had a license plate that literally read "SEC DGB". I never actually got a look at it, but she's 16, so I think she knows what she's talking about. Anyways, thought it was cool, repping the SEC and Mizzou.

I didn't think it would take him long and it hasn't. Matter apparently will be a regular contributor on radio. Sounds like it must be a new sports station now that 590 has gone to a man show. Matter is going to be on 920 am which apparently is a cbs sports affiliate. I predict it won't be long and he'll have his own segment, particularly during the season and maybe a weekly show in the off season. Can't wait. More good news for coverage in the STL.

ETA - Shouldn't have left out the fact that Gabe will be contributing as well. I suspect he'll have much more of an insight into recruiting issues.

That's awesome! St. Louis has needed to improve its Mizzou coverage, and it seems like they're stepping up.

No question. Now the flip side is, on the regular newscast tonight, they had a segment on Mizzou football. They talked about...Pinkel at SEC media days saying the QB race was wide open. 1. Old news. 2. Not even accurate. Pinkel has said Franklin is the starter as of now, though it was still up for competition. That's not how the news covered it.

Matt Holliday sucks. That is all.

Highest paid player on the team is the easiest to replace... that isn't how it should be. Adams at 1st, Craig in LF and all of a sudden 20 mill a year is free. I guess that wasn't all when I said it was all.

Did I mention how much I hate Matt Holliday?

It wouldn't break my heart to see him go, Gray. I'd rather see us retain Beltran. And Freese, but I realize that is probably a long shot.

Not sure what you do with Holliday and his salary. Should have gotten rid of Freese long ago as much as I like him. His value will never be as high as it once was. I'd like to keep Beltran as well.

If you could get rid of Holliday and his salary and put Craig in left and Adams at 1st, you're really not picking up anything offensively but you would be getting about the same production for a shite load less.

What kind of moves do y'all see the Cards making? Or none at all? Lots of talk today about the possibility of Buehrle. Doubtful IMO. Seems as if they're out of the Peavey talks. Aybar from the Angels? They've written the year off and are selling.

You're a brave man to say that, Kilo. The Rams have broken my heart too often for me to trust them...

That said, I'm really excited to see how these rookies do.

I hear you. After years of abuse at the hands of Bill Bidwell and the Cardinals I thought we had turned the corner for good in the late 90's and early oughts.

I really believe that Stan Kroenke just will not tolerate a poorly run franchise and things are looking up for us.

Its funny reading stuff coming out from the media recently has the Rams as the "sexy sleeper" pick by many.

Im a die hard and it has been rough for almost a decade but there is light at the end of the tunnel .

Fisher and Les Snead were just what the doctor ordered.

MLS announced tonight that they are expanding by 4 teams by 2020. I know STL is interested...what is the outlook on their chances?
