"They made a couple of mistakes, and we put the ball in play".

Now that's baseball at its finest.

Not squared up, not in the gap, and definitely not against the wall, over the fence, or even on a line.

We put the ball IN PLAY.

That about sums up the CWS experience in Omaha.

It's OK.

Over your head.

Unlike anything the outfielders see in Omaha.

Are you saying that doubles and HRs aren't balls put in play?

I get the premise of the thread. You're saying every hit counts. You can't count on HR's and doubles.

I just think you're reading too much into that quote.

This has absolutely nothing to do with LSU.

LSU would lose 10 out of 10 series with these 8 teams given the circumstances.

And I apologize for inconveniencing anyone here. No one so far even gets the point, and that's cool.

Carry on.

Maybe you'd like to elaborate on this point you're trying to drive home then?

Just something discussed ad nauseum about the balance of pitching and hitting in regards to the bats, balls, and ballparks.

Several threads, mostly on the Rant, possibly MSB, too.

I guess with Miss St still in it, and I would have figured some knowledgeable CWS followers that were on this board, it might garner a chuckle.

I was wrong.

Usually in baseball, when a pitcher makes a mistake, the ball gets clobbered. With 3 HR's total in 11 games, and 4 of 6 UCLA runs scoring unearned with errors and bunts, I found the quote amusing.

In case you haven't heard, they've changed the game of baseball as it relates to determining a national champion in college.

The NCAA has ruined the CWS.

The ironic thing is that ESPN is going to fix it.

Don't.

They paid too much money to cover regionals, super regionals, SEC games, etc.

They are driving the points home inning by inning, sometimes out by out.

They are exposing the liberal strike zone, and can't go two batters without bringing up the shallow outfielders, wind blowing in, etc.

As long as they have Orel Hershiser I refuse to believe they are fixing anything.
