Are we at the point where the NCAA should place athletic budget caps for certain sports such as football? It appears lower budget schools will never be able to consistently compete year in and year out for SEC championships. If not budgets, then maybe salary cap for college football coaches?

No.

We are a smaller school but I don't want our people whining and bitching and moaning like little girls about that kind of shite. If we are at a disadvantage because of Ath Dept spending, its up to us to figure out a way to reduce and minimize that disadvantage. Be smart. Be innovative. Be aggressive. Figure that shite out. Don't whine and bitch about the disparity, just fricking fix it.

Yeah totally. Lets continue the pussification into college football. I personally think they should give national championships to everyone so they feel special.

There's a reason the SEC is king. We have better athletes and we cheat better. Everyone else can deal with it or follow suit.

Since you're an Ole Miss fan, I'll give you this tid bit. It has been argued back and forth why Alabama can have one of the largest athletic budgets in the country (second in total revenue overall), but can't field a decent baseball team with proper facilities. Yet, Ole Miss and Mississippi State seem to do fine with far less budgets.

Newsflash: This already exists. 85 scholarships. 25 additional per year. Adjust for sport you're talking about.

The answer to all of those questions is HELL NO!!! If the lower budget schools think they are at such a competitive disadvantage, then they might want to consider either dropping down a division, or creating separate divisions for the haves and have nots. The SEC, B1G, Pac 12, Big 12 & ACC needs to separate from themselves from the rest of the NCAA anyways.

As a person who has many African-American friends, I find it somewhat despondent how the SEC schools have nothing but mostly white people (fans and alumni) taking advantage of the entertainment of the players (mostly african-americans) without any real transfer of payment to the players.

Yeah, the players get a free ride on education (big fricking deal as I received one one as well from my father) but think how much money is made by the schools, media, video games. Mike "Robert E Lee" Slive might as well be a slave trader because that's what this has become.

Seriously, Johnny Manzel sues for his "Johnny Football" brand and former Rutgers QB Ryan Hart sues EA Sports. You all know that most african-americans wouldn't be able to take advantage of that. I didn't intend to turn this into a race discussion but I'll call a spade a spade when it is.

you are wrong.

I am all for player rights and support their side on most all issues, both in college and in the pros.

I just don't see where this is a race issue at all.

I wouldn't be opposed to it in football since this makes the most revenue for schools anyway.

Since football costs the most to field, it seems unfair that a school with several million donors, many of whom are not even alumni of the institution, can buy championships.

Baseball and even basketball still have an essence of true sportsmanship. I'm not sure if I like where programs like Bama, LSU, and Texas are taking football. I'll continue to watch though.
