A little too close for my comfort, I don't see Van Horn out recruiting him head to head but at least this opens the door for an upgrade on the staff.

Bitter sweet, he's a top recruiter in the country but can't coach for shite.

I think Van Horn can pull in someone almost as good recruiting wise, but a much better coach.

Well the staff could never go all the way. Hopefully we upgrade hitting somehow. And recruiting should be easier considering we have good tradition and great facilities.

Come on down, Mike Clement.

Great hitting coach and has a ton of Texas recruiting ties.

Oh, he also coaches the middle IF.

What's up with the Butler fans?

I read HiV, "Ol DVH tell the hitters how to hit, not Butler"

"If Butler was running the hitting we would be hitting over .300!"

lolz. I'm sure DVH tells hitters, "Ok, kid go up there swing and miss at curve balls in the dirt"

If you haven't noticed, the fan base has a tendency to latch on to assistants as "favorites" of theirs for the dumbest reasons.

Gus - hired as an OC, did his job as instructed by the HC, leaves on his own, was then wronged by said HC.

Paul Petrino - portion of the fan base thinks he can do no wrong, always someone else's fault for his failures (Zook, JlS).

Joe Ferguson - wronged by both Ford and Nutt, people forget about his abrasive personality.

Ostrum, Cyprien, Edger all were instrumental in their HC's "success", none could do wrong and they all did plenty of wrong.

Even track has had this happen with people latching on to Booth.

This is my favorite, there are still many who believe he is the HC at Florida.

wasn't he basically beloved by the athletes and has improved UF's jumpers significantly? seems like there is a legitimate reason to say he should not have been let go.

I can compile a list of former assistant and HCs at just Arkansas, you would say worst list ever, then I could follow with "beloved by the athletes", that would change your mind?

He wasn't "let go", he thought he deserved the HC job, Florida gave him the chance to prove himself, google where he is at now.

He is a good assistant coach.

change my mind about what?

did not know that. i thought he was willing to stick around as an assistant and was pushed out by a new coach who only wanted his own staff

didn't even know that he wasn't at uf anymore.
