He used to reside near Bluff Lake in the Noxubee Wildlife Refuge near Starkville
LINK

He was released there in 1969 as part of the beaver control project. I saw him several times when we would go out there during my years at State in late 80's early 90's. had no idea he was still there.

Time to fire up the grill for some gator tail.

And Maroon, your avi and sig are missing. Says you've hit your bandwidth on both.

They are slowly reaching nuisance levels in central Mississippi. Especially within the Pearl River Water Management Authority. I have up getting in water I can't see through 10 years ago because of the numbers of them in the Ross Barnett Reservoir. We love in a golf course community and the other day there were three of them sunning themselves on the bank of our course lake while a golf scramble was going on. But 14 feet has to be near record size for Mississippi.

We have to get away from this lottery bullshite to issue tags during alligator season and go to the LA model where you are allowed to buy as many tags as you want. I've heard they are really bad in the Cleveland/Greenville area too.

When I was chapter president I told my guys, "Any one dies from booze at this house and I taking your body to the Refuge and feeding you to the gators" glad he lasted while I was there

Was the cause of death 'Chained up to the front of a bulldozer.'?

I used to love taking fellow students from "up north" to Noxubee so they could see their first gators.

Officially one of the worst photoshops I've ever seen.

No. Had been dead several days when they found him. Body showed he probably died of natural causes. He had to be close to 40-45 years old.

That's sad.

I love alligators. There are very few of them in the Atlanta area.

I have seen a couple 12 footers and one that was ~ 13 feet long at our camp in Delta National... That lottery that MDWFP does is such bullshite.

14 ft 3 inches to be exact. And see my previous post about the lottery. It is bullshite. A friend of mine from work and I went two years ago and we were limited to two tags. One under 12 ft and one over 12 feeet. Considering that 75% of what you catch are under 12 ft signifcantly it can make for a long weekend. I would have went this last season too but the opening weekend of gator season was the same weekend as the Auburn game and I wasn't going to miss Grindfest '12

And according to article he was caught about 10 years ago and tranqualized and measured 14 feet then so he hasn't grown much at all in 10 years.
