How the frick is anyone supposed to prove that? Go ahead and believe sumlin and A&M insiders (like Billy Liucci) are lying.

Other teams losing to allow your team into the national title picture equals lucky? Well in that case for K State, Oregon, and ND your upset over us was just lucky.

You're completely ignoring how statistically unlikely, even if you are favored in every game, it is to go undefeated. Other teams losing wasn't lucky. It was mathematically expected.

ISU over Okie Light was a massive upset. Baylor over KSU was a massive upset. Both ISU and Baylor were mediocre at best and Baylor even had a losing record at the time.

A&M over Bama was an upset sure but both were top 15 teams.

Never mind that Bama had already lost first in both instances. Sorry but Bama was extremely lucky that they got to play in their last two Nattys. Do deny that is ridiculous.

Oh sorry, I assumed that since you have A&M flair and they're so superior to Bama academically that you might have some grasp of basic statistics. :/

Oh, so you're cool with accepting whatever anyone says without proof?

if you are really going to try and boil it down to statistics you are a lost cause.

Yeah, discussing statistics when talking about luck is so dumb.

No, I am just pretty sure that Sumlin and Liucci and other Aggie insiders aren't just making that sh** up. That would be pretty bold (in a very very stupid way) for a college coach to start throwing that out there, when it could very easily be shot down by the NFL, making them look like a giant tool.

Would you describe it as completely unprecedented?

the odds of a 4-5 Big 12 team with a horrid defense beating a 10-0 Big 12 team with a solid D is statistically low.

as the odds were highly against it, Bama was lucky it happened.

I think it's important, when calculating the odds that a team will go undefeated-- say K State or Oregon-- to look at the season as a whole and multiply the probabilities of a win from each game with each other (this assumes they are all independent events, which admittedly they are not).

So if their probability of winning is 90% for each game and they play 12 games:

(.9)*(.9)*(.9)*...*(.9) [twelve times] is about 28%. Lucky that they lost eventually? I think not! ;)

Who cares? The real funny part is that Auburn thought he would leave A&M to try and coach that team in the same division back up a 6 touchdown gulf just to get back to where he was...

There is no reason to leave College Station. Sumlin has Texas High School Football as his feeder program to comppete in the SEC.

He is making over 3 million a year and is being treated like a hero after finishing third place in the SEC West.

The sky is the limit for A&M and Sumlin winning the SEC West 3 times a decade on average.

Not only that, he's only ever known the college game. He's worked under college guys in Stoops and Slocum. He is staying. He will have a multi-decade run, imo.
