The SEC West's glory years: 1957-66

I'm tired of everyone writing on the SECRant that the SEC has ruled college football over the past 7 years. What's more interesting to note is that the SEC Western Division's best years took place before the division was even created...national titles were won every year by future SEC West teams during the decade of dominance of 1957-66.

Alabama won the AP and Coaches/UPI in 1964. Arkansas won the FWAA trophy.

They were really kind of "co-consensus" choices, I suppose. Arky took the FWAA's trophy, which was one of the big three awards back then (AP and UPI being the other two). Auburn only got the '57 AP trophy back in '57, so I guess that they would be co-consensus with Ohio State, and so on...

That would be the definition of non-consensus.
I literally figuratively think that's what it is.

Lol. You don't know what consensus means.

I do, but there are just way too many groups out there that designate mythical national champions to list each and every last one of them every single year. It's just a LOT faster to type "consensus" if a team took one or more of the main three awards from back then (AP, UPI, and FWAA).

Interesting thread, OP.
Which, in the off season, means it will be shat upon.

There were 4, not 3. The NFF.

Anyone who tries to claim 1962 (except for Southern Cal) is full of shite.
