@JonRothstein: Top PG in 2015 RT @PaulBiancardi: Breaking News: Isaiah Briscoe is now officially down to 3 schools. Saint John's, UConn, and Kentucky.

Looks like we're starting to flame out here.

We were late on that bandwagon anyways, looks like we will have to push all of our chips in on Bryant and Blakeney.

As a fan, it's so hard to remember that the recruiting game is a game of failure, more so than even baseball. For every kid we land, there's going to be 20 we miss out on. Hard not to become pessimistic about our chances here but....

I wouldn't be mad with Kapita and Bryant or Kapita and Blakeney either.

5 star shooting guard JaQuan Lyle now choosing between Indiana, Mizzou, or possibly sticking with Oregon. His has been a strange saga, but another Huntington Prep kid. I think he's a more likely get than Blakeney at this point, and if he's willing to come, you take him now. Fulford knows how to coach him, he played with Gill-Caesar and Bryant last year, try to get the pipeline going...that's what we brought Fulford here for afterall.

So what's the story with him and his qualifying? And he's a 2014 kid right? So if he qualifies at Mizzou, he'd be eligible to play 2nd semester? I agree though, could go a long way toward getting Bryant.

Sure seems like Indiana is going to be tough to beat out for Lyle though from what I'm reading.

Could be although the whole recruitment is just odd. I mean Indiana offered him back like before he even started high school or something, so they should have been tough to beat for the past 4 years or so...then he commits to Louisville, decommits, winds up at Oregon only to get released due to the NCAA not approving some class or something, now suddenly its Indiana again...I just dunno.

It's Cam Beidschid level drama, hell it's basically Cam Part 2 - kid floating from place to place for reasons unknown, maybe he'll be eligible at semester or not nobody's sure, 5 star shooter with potential but who knows if he'll pan out.

The only thing I see with the Lyle soap opera is this: his time at Huntington Prep seems like it was one of the few relatively stable periods. Even taking my Mizzou bias off the table, if I'm one of his advisors I might really suggest to him that reuniting with Fulford and getting back into a familiar routine of some sort with an established mentor would be a good thing for this kid. This is one of those where I honestly feel better about Mizzou's ability to help Lyle than I do about Lyle's ability to help Mizzou. Maybe he would be a good player for us, maybe he wouldn't. But I feel confident that being mentored by Kim Anderson and Fulford would be good for Lyle right now.

Can't argue with that ATX. I saw where Bryant, Miles Bridges and Jones from Huntington Prep cancelled their visits to Indiana with Lyle this past weekend. Sickness supposedly or something. Apparently Bryant had just visited IU last weekend. He must have some interest there as well to at least plan to return on back to back weekends, even though it didn't pan out.

If we can lure Lyle out of their, all of the familiar faces (Fulford, Teki, Lyle) would have to help with Bryant. Actually, the more we can get him to not think about Syracuse or whoever it was the better our chances I think.

With Bryant it seems like we just can't hold our breath until his mom stops chirping about Syracuse constantly. Who knows exactly what the dynamic between mother and son is there, but its family, and we've seen plenty of times where the kid gets overruled by the outspoken parent. Leo Lyons, Steffon Hannah, etc. Doesn't always happen that way and clearly there's a disconnect of some sort between Bryant and his mom with the son taking all these visits to Midwestern schools, so will keep fingers crossed...

I really wouldn't mind losing Bryant if we were recruiting multiple bigs who were good options, but it seems like almost all our frontcourt eggs are in the Bryant basket. Maybe I should be more excited about Ted Kapita than I am, hell he's ranked a top 40 player by Rivals, but it sounds like another raw Torren Jones type. Meh.

Yeah, we have a real need to land a big in this class. I don't mind getting through this year with Post/Rosburg, but next year the only true post player we'll have is Rosburg. Would be nice to get a big in to get a year's experience while still having a veteran big around as well.
