from the AJC:

Stricklin agreed to a six-year contract that will pay him $600,000 per year, including yearly longevity bonuses. That will place Stricklin in the top third of the SEC and top 10 nationally, according to McGarity. Stricklin had five years left on a contract that paid him $300,000 per year at Kent State.

quote:

Strickland hit the ground running. He said he recruited in East Cobb and North Georgia on Tuesday, has already met eight of Georgia’s 10 incoming signees and had “two great players” in for a visit Wednesday morning.

Give Scott what he needs. Gotta get the Foley Field upgrades on the fast track... We can field a NCAA tourney team every year just by using ECBB kids...

When they begin to renovate Foley, I'll be first in line to buy baseball season tickets.

Taking steps in the right direction

Now if only we could do something about basketball and an indoor practice facility...

“The University of Georgia sells itself,” Stricklin said. “This state bleeds red and black, and we are going to bleed red and black, and we are going to build this baseball program into the national power it deserves to be and needs to be.”

quote:

“... We’re going to compete in the offseason in the recruiting battles and we’re going to compete on the field, and the Georgia Bulldogs are going to do everything they can to rule the state of Georgia.”

Now, are we going to spend the money to bring his assistant coaches with him?

No reason in the world why UGA shouldn't have a program that competes to go the CWS every year, and expects to compete every year. And YES there should be substantial improvements with your stadium...

I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is great damn news for the program. The only setback I can possibly see at this point is 2 of his kids have stupid names, but I won't care about that once we start hosting supers again.

I'm sure y'all can come up with some fancy nicknames for them...isn't that a common practice down there?

Lotta those east Cobb kids end up at Tech. No reason a kid in his right mind would choose Tech over UGA once we git this thing rolling.

Top caliber SEC baseball basically funds itself, and brings additional pride within it's fanbase. I would think GA passion for baseball at any level is on par with most others in the south, if they have a quality product to support.

Doesn't seem like "CHEAP" is the proper word to use here, to me...
