The wicked witch of the west gets better mileage, but the witch of the north is more sporty.

Neither if you're trying to stay around 10-15k. Used BMW's are nightmares if they're not under 3 yrs old.

I do like the X6's a lot.

Used? First thing you need to check is if they have had their 30,60,90k mile fixes. If not, you're in the hole right out of the gate.

My wife has a 1 series, which is very similar to the 3. She loves it. It rides very smoothly and you can hit 100mph without even noticing. The lack of trunk space and small back seats mean that it would be difficult transporting golf clubs and passengers. The 3 series is supposed to be a little longer and wider, so these issues might not be as prevalent.

Are you our car expert?

Starting the process of replacing my wife's Tahoe. It's a 2004 with 190K. We have 4 kids and need (want) the following:

Comfortably seat 6-7 with decent storage in the back.
4x4 or FWD
DVD player
Rear camera for backing up.

We tend to buy and hold onto it for 9 - 10 years. We consistently maintain the vehicle.

Car expert? Lol no.

I am however intuitive, know where to find good deals, and give the best bad advice.

So, did you love the Tahoe? If so then maybe a slightly used Denali still under warranty might be what mama needs. I'm not a fan of buying new because of the depreciation hit. Let someone else's wallet absorb that.

SLC. Buy what u have just newer.

You're gonna regret not having a tahoe or Yukon when u give that one up.

Also, don't buy a Yukon xl or a suburban or anything thats extended. They're depreciation is one of the worst

Momma wants the suburban, I just don't want to pay for it. I can buy a rent house for the cost of a brand new suburban. And used suburbans and expeditions are not plentiful. I was told that people who buy them are keeping them like we do.

I don't worry about resale that much anymore b/c we drive them until they are on life support. We don't get back much, whether we trade it in or sell it ourselves.

I told her to go out and drive a lot of different vehicles, get the kids and car seats in there and see what makes sense. Caveat, she'd buy a vehicle based on family vacations whereas I tend to buy more for the every day use. Something we have to balance out.

She's gonna look at:
Acadia/Traverse
Yukon/Tahoe
Expedition
Honda Odyssey
Toyota Siena (? mini-van)
Sequoia.

Geez, I don't want to pay for any of those.

If you're going for the big SUV and buying new isn't a prob. Go for broke and look at the QX56.

They're pimp and they're the supermom mobile that you'll enjoy driving too.

A co-worker just bought a new Toyota Sienna, and that sucker has reclining back seats with footrests!

I work at a Buick/gmc store.

Stay away from Acadia and traverses. Trust me.

If u do want to go medium SUV u need to check out the Buick enclaves. Best midsize SUV on the road IMO. And that's not just because I sell them.

Tahoe/Yukon are ur best bet as far as SUV's go.

Also stay away from expeditions and sequoias. Sequoias are nice but they destroy gas.

Sounds u need to go with a minivan. I prefer odysseys over Siena's but u really can't go wrong with either.
