League Revenue Big 12 vs SEC

Per Dave Matter, in 2010 Mizzou took home $9 million from the Big 12, around $13 million in 2011, none in 2012. This year from the SEC they received $20.7 million from the SEC.

I think at the end of the day, they're all pretty close. I think the Big 12 schools this year got around $19 million each. Of course, that's with only 10 schools. If they ever expand to 14, it's closer to $13.5 million. My numbers could be off but I thought I read that somewhere.

Only 2 teams in the big 12 got the full amount. They do not do an equal split. The SEC does. Also, after the SEC Network starts up it could add anywhere from $5-$17million more per year per team to revenue split.

No question, all things being equal, SEC is a better deal. I thought the Big 12 was moving to an equal sharing of revenue? I know they're not right now and TCU and WV are essentially junior members getting a smaller percentage. I thought, had MU stayed, they would have ended up somewhere around the $19 million mark.

Not sure just know Matter said there were only 2 teams that got a full revenue share, the rest got half or lower.

The equal revenue sharing was a carrot dangled by bevo to get us to stay, and it didn't work. I'm not sure if that actually came to pass, along with the grant of rights, or not. If it is happening, it wasn't for 2012-13, maybe for 2013-14.

They didn't have a new agreement in place for 2012-13. Not sure if they do now or not.

Because they feel like they have no choice. If ISU stands up to Texas now and Texas bolts, what does ISU then do? So you take it in the arse from Texas and say thank you, may I have another.

And that's just the way bevo wants it. The ISUs and KSUs of the world are screwed without Tejas, an they all know it.

Not sure where you all are getting this info. From what I've read 8 b12 teams got equal shares of 22mill and tcu and wv got 11mil.

Mizzou and the SEC will destroy the b12 in revenue in a few years once the SEC net dollars start rolling in.

That's what I had thought as well. I thought it was all equal other than TCU and WV. If they were straight across the board, they'd each receive about $20 million but because TCU and WV got 1/2 shares, the additional amount, split among the other 8, gave each of them around $22 million.

FWIW... The $20.7 million didn't include $14.5 million in Bowl money & $928,000 for something else(can't remember )....

So we've all got about another $1.1 million each coming for a ttl of $21.8 million...

This is why the SEC is the best conference in college (better than Big 10). Now Mizzou has to spend it wisely and become a power in football.

Texas is the only school with options. OU does not have a choice. PAC said they were only interested in Texas but would take OU if it meant getting texas. That was straight from Larry Scott.

As mighty as OU is, they literally had less weight to throw around during expansion than Mizzou. They are equals with ku, ksu, isu, etc.

OU would have options if they were not tied politically to Okie Lite. That, and no media markets, really makes them less desirable. Which was awesome for us!!

Yep, OU's demise is the fact hey are tied at the hip to Okie St. Without them, they'd find a home. I have to believe all of these marriages will eventually come to an end in time. If you're the state of Oklahoma, wouldn't you rather have at least one of your state universities find a solid, stable home than watch both of them be left hanging because of this forced marriage.
