I know this place screwed over a guy at my work recently in NWA. I will get the name for you tomorrow so you do not go there.

Thanks guys. I sold cars for a short time but I couldn't do it for long because it's a nasty business. I can smell a rat a mile away in these places so usually when I tell them I've sat on their side of the desk, they cut the shite. Just looking for the most honest dealer...if there is any.

The Hyundai dealer in Springdale might be a good bet. For under 10k don't disregard craigslist and go over the cars with a fine tooth comb. If you don't know a lot about troubleshooting take a buddy that does or run it by your mechanic, at least take it to autozone and have them run their free diagnostic check, if it throws a code they'll tell you what it means.

You can get just as good a deal buying from an owner. Also start asking around to everyone you know if anyone has a car they'd be willing to part with on the cheap. Sorry I don't have a specific sales person I could direct you to in NWA. My buddies in the business are in other parts of the state.

Appreciate it. I do most of my own maintenance and repairs. I have experience in changing my crank pulley and belt, oil, spark plugs... etc. So I kind of know my way around a car and what is shite and what isn't. Craigslist in Arkansas however, is unique because I find people think that their cars are worth a lot more than they really are. Arkansas is not a cheap place to buy a car I'm finding because there is very little competition. Another problem I may run into is that my credit may be too good for a lot of these used car dealers who are looking to gouge the unfortunate.

Check around and see if any friends know of anybody who goes to car auctions. It is the only way i buy cars right now. I have a friend who buys for a lot of dealerships and he always gets me a good deal. 2 years ago I bought a 2010 Impala with 10k miles for $10,700.

Check around in Ft. Smith as well, it is different set of dealers there. The ones who own lots in NWA also own the lots around LR, for the most part.

I've had good luck with them, Randall Ford offered rebates and discounts the other Ford dealers would not (but should have) when I purchased my last vehicle.

Man the car market here is rough. Cruising Craigslist I found a guy trying to sell a Pinto for a grand more than it was sold for in 77. Cars rarely appreciate Pintos never do...

ridiculous.

The car auction is a great idea. If you can plunk down a couple grand in escrow then Copart is a hell of a way to purchase vehicles. It's an auction service and how the insurance industry gets rid of wrecked cars but there's always perfectly fine cars on there that people are just putting up for auction.

They go at a cut rate, there's a copart yard west of Prairie Grove by Bob Kidd Lake on Hwy 62. You browse all their auctions on the website, you might have to travel to pick up what you like though.

Hopped on copart while watching the end of the game and found a couple that might be worth looking into.

2007 Lexus RX 350 107K, bluebooks in fair condition at $11,300 and $13,000 in good. Looks to be really good condition body and interior wise. Auction price is at $5600 currently. At the Little Rock lot

LINK

If you're looking for something smaller here's one in the Prairie Grove lot (they call it Fayetteville, but it's out between Lincoln and PG)

2011 Nissan Versa hatchback, no damage, auctions on Wed., currently no bids, bluebooks at $11,000.

LINK

You might be able to swoop in there and get it for a song.

oooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrr, you could go $30Kaire balla status and go out to L.A. and nab this 2006 Bentley Arnage. The bid is currently at $10,200.

LINK

If I were looking to turn a buck or two I might watch this one. 2010 Jaguar XF-R Very Good condition, salvage title so it might have been a theft, 21K actual miles. Bid price is $2500; blue books at $33,000 private party in good condition.

No offense. Just a question because I have no idea. But who in the hell and where in the world in NWA could work on a Bentley?

Also, don't buy a Jaguar, Audi, or Range Rover. No offense to anyone who might have one, but those cars are normally junk.

Isn't there a way just a normal person can get the license to be able to go to auctions? I've always been curious.

Why? Because I forbid myself to buy new. I've bought 3 brand new cars in my life. Each one I had less than two months and wrecked. None were my fault. So, I decided god wanted me to buy used.

I've got a bid in on a beater for $15.

$50 is as high as I'll go, let's not get into a bidding war please.

I figure the worst I can do if I win is pay $50 for an older car and then sell it on craigslist for 5-600.

I'm happy with a 1000% profit all day long.

Most of the dealer auctions are open to the public. Possibly the Springfield, LR, and OKC ones are closed to the public on certain days. That's usually when the primo cars that can be turned for crazy profit go on the block. The guys in the biz want to bid against other dealers only willing to pay rock bottom wholesale and not Joe Blow's like you and me just trying to save 15-20% off sticker.

There's a couple different ones in OKC that most of the NWA used car dealers go to. I can't remember the name of the lot but the ol boy who owns the lot on the East side of Hwy 62 b/n Farmington and PG just past where you turn to get to Valley View is at least open to buying wholesale for you provided you pay him a broker fee.

I ended up buying my Bronco instead and didn't need to use him, but he's willing to listen to an out of the box offer.
