Not much of a surprise, but Demarre Kitt just committed to Clemson. Doesn't really mean much until Watson inks somewhere though.

Georgia wasn't even recruiting him according to 247, but Kirby Smart was. Why?

Because his size and speed don't cut it at wide receiver in the SEC?

Ht: 6-1 | Wt: 182 | 40: 4.53

Would he make a decent corner or safety for someone in the SEC?

Lol, you a homer troll or just dumb? First, loving the UGA spin. Yal weren't recruiting Nuk Hopkins, but that turned out just fine for us!

Second, you don't think he has the speed to play WR, but you think he might make a decent corner. Yea that makes sense, not.

Corner vs Receiver is not a 40yd dash, contrary to popular backyard football philosophy. Corners play with a cushion on the receiver and break up their routes, and try to play tricks on the qb with coverages etc, all kinds of fancy stuff. They also are generally built well enough to take down a decent sized running back running at full speed around the outside. 4.53 is just fine for a corner, but a step slow for an elite receiver. Maybe if he was 5 inches taller, he could be an elite receiver with that speed. But at 6-1, not going to cut it.

Come on now, we weren't recruiting him, but it wasn't because of his size or speed. We had already taken an earlier commitment from him. The fact he decommitted and has been a bitch the whole time is why we weren't recruiting him.

He is small, he isn't very fast, those things are true, but they aren't the only things that make a good WR. Kitt isn't going to be the #1 outside guy you are throwing jump balls to, but he has very good hands, runs crisp routes and is tough enough in the middle. He will make a great slot WR just like he would have at UGA.

That said, good riddance, he is your problem now Tigers.

Yea you'll find that Tigers are far from ecstatic about the kid. He's a solid pickup, but everyone knows his history. He's also vastly overrated a Rivals100 prospect.

I think most are hoping he can be a slightly better version of Jaron Brown. A tough, solid WR who can space between the hashes and make the couches in the middle. Like you said, he's not some gamechanging perimeter WR.

UGA is in love with WR Cameron Sims, that’s why. We are only taking 1 more WR in this cycle

But Kitt is a very good WR, let’s not kid ourselves. I’m glad he choose Clemson over other SEC schools and Ohio.

Name the top 5 WRs of the past 25 years in the NFL.

Jerry Rice- Ran 4.71 out of college
Randy Moss- High 4.2x/low 4.3x
Terrell Owens- High 4.4x/Low 4.5x
Michael Irvin- Mid 4.5x
Chris Carter- 4.6x

Now, name the top 5 CBs over the same timeframe?

Darrell Green- 4.2x in the 40. 1 of the top 2 fastest players in NFL History.
Deion Sanders- 4.2x in the 40. Probably top 15 fastest in NFL History
Rod Woodson- Low 4.3x
Champ Bailey- 4.28
Darrelle Revis- 4.38

You won't find many elite CBs that don't have sub 4.4 speed. All 5 of the top 5 CBs over the past 25 years were sub 4.4. Only 1 of the top 5 WRs was sub 4.4x.

Anquan Boldin ran 4.71 at 6'1"
Reggie Wayne- Probably 4.45-4.49 and he's 6'0"
Wes Welker- 4.65
Victor Cruz- 4.47-4.50 at 6'0"
Hakeem Nicks- 4.5-4.6 at 6'1"

Don't worry about it. It was a moronic statement to begin with. Don't justify it by a response.

I hate to agree against a UGA guy but yeah it was. Speed is much more important at CB than WR. Though he did say maybe a move to safety would be in order.
