Would ATM have won the Natty if they didn't jump to the SEC?

No tard.

If we are in the Big XII, yes we probably go 12-0. Bama and ND would have also both been undefeated though, and A&M wouldnt have gotten in the title game over either.

You don't get better by playing weak teams over and over again.

Had we stayed in the Big 12, we'd still have Mike Sherman as head coach and would still be choking away 3+ score 2nd half leads.

Bama would have been undefeated. If A&M did play Bama, then Bama would have beat them IMO

We know. For the love of God we know.

Thanks for almost doing what we were able to do so we could do it a week later, or something like that.

Plus, some teams like Oklahoma State and Texas Tech could have exploited the Aggie D in a way AJ McCarron couldn't.

You should have started a thread about whether its fair that LSU has to play UF every year.....that topic hasn't been covered as much as this one, sadly.

Meh, OU was better than either team offensively and we crushed them. It has more to do with out exclusion from the title game.

Going 12-0 and missing out would have been so much worse than going 11-2.

Yes.

So would Kansas State if they didn't lose that last game.

Alabama got lucky this year. Most 1-loss SEC champs don't get to play for the NC.

They got lucky the year before too. Didn't even win their division, and got to play.

Call me butthurt all you want, that's fine. But facts are facts. Most 1-loss SEC Champs don't get to play for the NC unless all the cards fall into place, ie "luck".

Just look at the numbers in the BCS era.

ETA- I changed my mind. If ATM wasn't in SEC, Bama would have been undefeated and played Notre Dame.

It could be argued that JFF's success is directly related to hauling arse out of the way of defenders from UF/UA/LSU/etc...

Would he be the player he is, a Heisman winner in B12? Maybe, RGIII did. But I think Manzeil is a better QB having played in SEC.

The biggest difference would be how the kids responded to sumlin and Snyder. Last year everyone said they'd be killed all year, so it fueled them to prove ppl wrong.

Big 12 -> a&m may have been top 3 talented teams but not as motivated and no chip on their shoulder. Average 60 a game and still go 11-2. Probably would blow the game in Austin, and their bowl game.

Not to say A&M wasn't talented as hell last year, they took a preseason #8 team that blew 5 double digit halftime leads and gave them a face lift with an exciting coach, a challenging schedule, and a bottle rocket at QB....

Perfect storm.

Now who knows where they take this momentum. The defense is going to take some big leaps in year 3 I think.

this

plus Manziel likely would have been behind Showers and probably would have transferred at the end of the season.
