Bama LSU Rivalry Question

Saban was at LSU from 2000-2004 and won one title. He's been at Bama since 2007 and has won three.
Before Saban ever coached in the SEC and even during the time Saban was at LSU and with the Dolphins, how intense was the hate between these two? Its clearly one of the top rivalries in the SEC today and has been since Saban went to Bama + won 3 championships, but was the hate anything close to what it is now before the Saban factor was there?
Part of me thinks that if Saban would have gone to any other SEC West program post-LSU and had won 3 titles, LSU fans would have that program at the top of their "hate" list.

Anyone else remember the run in that supposedly took place between Saban at LSU and Franchione at Bama?

I'm still getting used to them being good. I hated Auburn more growing up.

LSU fans, if polled, would say they hate Bama more than any other program/fanbase.
Bama would have them in the top 3.

Bama is THE program in the SEC. They have 2 rivals.
Lots of other Johnny come lately's want to be their rival. Applications are denied

Was just about to post this. I've never come to the SECr to bash Bama. I respect Bama, regardless of me being an LSU fan. Any UA fan claiming to "own" LSU is uninformed, or trolling.

LSU beat some of the worst Bama teams of all time in that stretch. Nothing to be proud of. The real pain came after Saban started his recruiting streak.

But to be fair, we beat them in their worst streak of football.(except for the past 2 years)

Yes, I do realize LSU's first hundred years of football minus '58 were bad times.....I guess I should take my statement back.

LSU has always hated us because they're jealous that no matter what happens, everyone recognizes Bama as the face of the conference. But we didn't really give too many shits until they stood in our way of winning a title every year.
