The season will be a success if … the Gamecocks play in the SEC title game. Beating USC might be the third or fourth best team in the West, so winning the conference championship might be asking for a bit much, but with a relatively favorable schedule and as many great athletes and dynamic playmakers as any team in the league, getting to Atlanta for the second time in four years is a must.

Every so often, a rivalry has a National Championship on the line. FSU-Florida used to be an elimination game almost, and in '06, Michigan and Ohio State went toe-to-toe and almost had a rematch. Texas-OU was huge for awhile, and LSU-Bama has become huge since 2011. This year, I think you'll see Clemson-South Carolina get put on a National stage. Both the Tigers and the Gamecocks should be undefeated or have a single loss going into this year's showdown.

no Bama, no LSU, no JFF on schedule. they better capitalize on this gift just like UGA did.

yep, they definitely have the schedule to make a run...

Strangely enough, I think they could even make the NC game without winning the SEC!!! If they lose to Georgia, and Georgia has at least 2 losses, the Gamecocks could jump ahead of them. The Clemson game is going to be huge!!! I predict Clemson to go undefeated up to the game with the Gamecocks...

Close isn’t enough anymore for one of the premier programs in college football – yes, right now, South Carolina is one of the premier programs in college football – and the only place to go from 11-2 is 12-1 with an SEC title. This team has the talent to do just that.

Thanks for posting. I thought that was a fair and accurate write-up and about what I am expecting this coming season.

I think you're going to see this more and more with a playoff system. The conference winner will be at a disadvantage having to play an extra game.

This could be a great year, the schedule is the easiest it's been since I can remember. We only play 3-4 teams that are currently ranked in the preseason Top 25 polls.

I don't know if clempson will be undefeated. Their defense last year was really bad, especially their pass defense and they lost 3 of their top 5 offensive weapons.

It would be epic for both teams to be undefeated and one rival crushes the other's BCSCG hopes.

That sounds better than a Tennessee/Vanderbilt rivalry to end the year in a Liberty Bowl elimination game

You've got to admit though. Throughout history except for maybe the 1980's, it's been a matchup of .500 all time teams that are sub-par at best usually.

well, if that happens, they need to change the seeding of the playoffs where conference championships take precedence over At-Large teams...at-large bids should have to be on the road the first round

Sucks that we are going to have to ruin their national championship hopes.

Oh well.

Tajh Boyd is for real...and their D is getting even better.

Plus, take a look at their schedule...

Actually, it sucks for Louisville that we don't have the playoff yet....

Even with an undefeated season, you're going to need a lot of help...

You're not going to pass up a 1-loss SEC team, which means you need to hope someone knocks off Ohio State or Clemson, especially towards the end of the season

Thank God this is the last year of the BCS

You mean JFF doesn't have Clowney on his schedule.

I will NEVER understand an SEC fan saying this.

It seemed like an awfully good system for the conference - and now we want to throw it away. Doesn't make any sense to me.

The only real thing about Tajh Boyd is he's been sacked twice as much by our defense than he has passed/rushed for TD's. This game is in Columbia this year and he will be remembered as the greatest clemson QB to never beat USC.

Yeah, their schedule is even easier than ours, but they have as good of a shot to go undefeated as we do. They have that type of ACCpuff schedule every year, and they manage to lose 2-3 games.

What's going to mess with them, as far as their scheduling goes, is the 2 teams they play right before us run the Triple Option or a variation of that.

Besides the USC game, clemson has at least a fair chance to lose to:
@ NCState
FSU
&
@ Syracuse (no seriously, didn't they beat Louisville last year.)

good point with the Syracuse game...could be a trap game

IMO, this is a good year to catch FSU though, especially at home...FSU has a lot of holes to fill
