Two years ago, when we had our best basketball team in a generation, I thought the SEC tourney championship was worth more than getting to the elite 8 in March Madness. However, I thought it was worth less than a final 4. Now I'm wanting Vandy to ignore the SEC tourney in baseball to focus on the NCAAs. So I've got three questions.

1. Which round of the NCAA tourneys equals an SEC tourney championship?

2. Is there a difference between basketball and baseball?

3. Does it matter on your perception of the national potential of the team?

What says the rant?

If sacrificing the SEC Championship guarantees Auburn wins the NC, then that's worth it. Other than that outcome, I would rather have the SEC Championship.

I'm an Auburn fan...I'm not qualified to answer this question

Not really sure what you're asking, but trophies > perception

Ole Miss has been to 3 SEC baseball Tournament title games in the last 8 years... They've won 1... I'd tried all of those tournament runs for a single trip to Omaha.

What do you mean? There is no 1:1 equivalent. For teams like Vandy and LSU who already have a national seed locked up. The tournament is nothing more than a tune-up, bragging rights type thing.

Basically, yes. The winners of the conference tournaments in baseball receive automatic bids. It can also help bubble teams solidify at-large bids if they can string a few wins together.

Vandy can lose both of the games they play in Hoover and will still be the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament.

Why do you care about perception?

I consider the SEC tournaments to be worthless and I wish they would quit having all conference tournaments.

Would rather them do away with the idea of a regular season title, that'd make more sense.

1. Omaha > SEC tournament championship
2. Final Four in basketball = Omaha in baseball IMO
3. Vandy is by far the best team in country. As good as UF the last 3 years and SC in 10-11. If they don't win it all the program will continue to be perceived as underachieving. Have to win it all this year and I think they will!
