yeah that's a bit of a controversial topic as some people really like it. From purely a business perspective it's a huge negative to our Ath Dept. But it is what it is. No sense crying about it. We've just got to work around it. And when it comes up for bid we either get fair value or cancel it.

Texas A&M will host New Mexico State at Kyle Field in College Station on Oct. 29, 2016. The two schools have never met each other in football.

According to a copy of the contract obtained through an open records request, Texas A&M will pay NMSU a $1.5 million guarantee for the game.

The addition of New Mexico State tentatively completes the 2016 non-conference schedule for Texas A&M. The Aggies are scheduled to open the season with back-to-back games at home against UCLA on Sept. 3 and Louisiana Tech on Sept. 10. A&M later hosts UTSA on Nov. 12.

What a snoozer, but not totally surprised. Thankfully, NMSU isn't an FCS....they may play like one, but officially they aren't.

Seriously, some of y'all that were griping and moaning about Lamar at the start of this thread should be grateful they were there.....

Alleva said the networks continue to push for LSU to move its game with Texas A&M to Thanksgiving day, but he has continued to refuse.

“As long as I’m here, we will not play in Tiger Stadium on a Thursday,” Alleva said. “I guarantee you that.”

The LSU-A&M game could be moved to Friday, Nov. 27, however, as was the case most years when LSU and Arkansas played on the final weekend of the regular season.

Alleva said he hopes to get a firm date on that game later this month during the SEC Spring Meeting in Destin, Florida.

Texas A&M moved its home game with LSU last year to Thanksgiving night, a 23-17 Tigers victory. A&M used to play Texas on Thanksgiving and it’s assumed the Aggies, will want to continue that tradition with their season-ending game against the Tigers.

I always use Google. That is part of the reason why I use original thread titles. If you search for "sec rant whose dick" in Google you find my opus thread.

agree. We should just play then every year.

I do wish we'd claim a Friday night primetime time slot. I remember someone brought that up to me a few years ago that it was being discussed. IIRC the reason the SEC nixed it is CBS was being dooshes during the look-in discussion - they weren't willing to change the contract materially and have to pay market value for the overall contract (once you open it, it's open). An extra prime time slot was material.

I wish we could slot it on SEC Network but who knows. Maybe there is some language that we only have the Thu window and CBS gets to pick among the rest.
