Likely candidates:

Hunter Renfroe-Ms State
.394 15 HR 51 RBI

Mason Katz-LSU
.378 13 HR 63RBI

Alex Bregman-LSU
.401 5 HR 46 RBI

Tony Kemp-Vandy
.391 0 HR 25 SB

Ill go with Hunter Renfroe. 5 tool stud. Top 30 pick in the draft.
And Bregman will win freshman of the year easily.

I watched Renfroe/Katz/Bergman and it is Renfroe for me. I like Bregman 2nd over Katz.

Katz will probably win it IMHO, and probably should.

I thought LB Dantzler had a good shot at it until he started getting banged-up. He's still got All-SEC numbers but I think Renfroe passed him in homers last week, although Dantzler may still be leading slugging percentage.

Eta: Looking forward to seeing Renfroe and Dantzler battle-it-out at the plate this weekend.

He isn't even the best pitcher in the league this year. That would be Beede from Vandy who is a nations best 13-0

How happy is the league that they get to see Bregman for 2 more years?

You're probably right about Beede, but you are still incredibly wrong for citing the absolute wrong reason why he is the best. Thus proving that even when you are right, you're probably still wrong.

It sucks knowing we'll probably never get that Nola vs. Beede matchup...unless it's in game 1 of the CWSCS

Would be an epic matchup.

24th round, I think. Hand injury being the sole reason for it, I believe.

You have a different idea of a 5 tool stud than I do. He obviously has ++ power, a + arm, and above average speed, but he does not project to be anything special at the next level hitting for average or defensively.

I don't really follow college baseball outside of prospects, but calling Renfroe a 5 tool guy is a stretch.

He's got the most power and best arm from outfield hands down in the SEC. Above average speed. He's hitting .400 in the SEC. That's above average I would say. And his defensive skills will only get better in the outfield. He only has 2 years experience in outfield. If he's not a 5 tool idk who else is in college baseball

The power, arm, and decent speed should all translate, sure. .400 average really means nothing when facing college pitching. Right now most people have him as around a 40 hitter (Law has him at 35; with a future grade of 55)

Likewise defensively, he is a 50 now, with a chance to get to a 60 with some work.

Those two tools are just not good enough to call him a 5 tool guy imo.

Not trying to derail the thread, should probably easily be the SEC MVP.

It's cool that Beede is 13-0 and all, but the dude sure does walk a crap ton of batters

His K/BB is horrific

I thought it was interesting he had so many wild pitches. Must have really filthy stuff.
