Just shows how cyclical things are even though in the moment it doesn't feel that way. I mean hell, that's not very long ago.

I think it will take a few years to show, but I think UT finally has their guy and Saban can't coach forever.

Yep. I hate UT with a passion but all this talk about them never becoming a top team again is either flaming or wishful thinking.

SEC is more interesting when UT is good. Enjoy it while it last, they'll be back in a few years.

Exactly! It is cyclical.

I remember arguing with other UT fans when Bama was down. Some were convinced Bama would never be back.

The worst day of my life was when Bama rescinded it's offer to Rich Rod.

My God, you had to bring that up.

I get no joy out of Tennessee being down. I want the Bama-Tennessee game to have conference and national title implications. I'm very cognizant that Tennessee will not stay down long. There's just too much passion there for success. I'm still wanting too see a rematch in a Bama vs Tennessee SEC Championship game. A Georgia dome half orange half crimson would be incredible.

UT has a limited natural recruiting base and has been the nations top program at any point. UT will probably improve, but it is not inevitable.

The only thing that makes it inevitable is they will refuse to continually get beat by Bama, Florida, and Georgia. They will do whatever it takes to win. I see Tennessee slowly climbing back to their "top 6" spot. I do love the UT posters that thought We would never be a threat to Tennessee again.......

If you win, there's no such thing as a limited recruiting base.

Almost as funny as Bammers who think they will never have a bad year again.

Unless Alabama goes on probation again, bad years -- where they lose 5 or 6 games -- will be a rarity. Now, occasionally losing 3 games is more likely than not, but that's not really a bad year.

It is cyclical.

As mentioned in this thread earlier, Saban won't coach forever. For every Saban, there are three Dubose/Price/Shulas.

Had it not been for Mike Hamilton, UT wouldn't be in the tank. Brian Kelly and Gary Patterson both wanted the UT job. Patterson thought he had it. Hammilton hired Kiffin.

You can thank ESPN for Kiffin as well. They pumped his coaching stock big time

Kiffin wasn't a terrible hire in theory. Young, energetic coach could lead you in the right direction. The problem is with a guy like that is he is looking for the next best thing, and lets face it the SEC is no joke. Playing Florida, Georgia and Bama every year is enough to make anyone reconsider. Add LSU on rotation and a solid USC and you have a tough road ahead and you got some real problems. "Aint nobody got time for that"

random observation from outside- you'll find you have a lot of spoiled fans who will bitch and moan that that IS a bad year, and all is doomed. Just my prediction

I hope Tennessee does revive soon. They were a fun team to watch from the 90's through the mid-00's, and brought a lot of respect back to the conference.

Bama wont be on top always but if we can sustain a level off competition where we are in the hunt regularly I will be happy
