Yeah, it is just as bad as the subject sounds. In fact it gets even worse once you see a picture of this dick wad. It's one thing to have this opinion and to do the things they have done to exclude fat people but actually opening up your mouth and telling the media this is idiotic.

quote:

“It’s almost everything. That’s why we hire good-looking people in our stores. Because good-looking people attract other good-looking people, and we want to market to cool, good-looking people. We don’t market to anyone other than that,” he said. Jeffries also told Salon that he wasn’t bothered by excluding fat people. In fact, he said that not limiting his ideal demographic would make his clothing less desirable. “In every school there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids,” he told the site. “Candidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don’t belong [in our clothes], and they can’t belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely. Those companies that are in trouble are trying to target everybody: young, old, fat, skinny. But then you become totally vanilla. You don’t alienate anybody, but you don’t excite anybody, either,” he told Salon.

Some things, especially when you are the CEO of a business, are better left unspoken. Besides the obvious free pub he gets off this stunt, how does A&F benefit from this more than it hurts them?

Most people who have shopped there in the past are still going to shop there.

I don't think that they make huge clothing so his company isn't going to suffer.

It's not like A&F has been very subtle about it either. The HS douche demographic spends their parents hard earned money on clothes, so it's good business. It's no different than the music industry prepackaging boy bands who sing songs about a really vague girl to separate teenage girls from mommy and daddy's money.

I don't like it, but I can't blame them for being good at business.

His brand, along with Gap, Old Navy, and Hollister. Were 4 brands I always refused to wear. Pretty much for the very reasons he stated his brand stands for.

I wouldn't mind re-arranging his face with my fist. Only problem is he would come out on the other side looking better than he does right now. Not sure who his plastic surgeon was, but I think the guy paid off his professors to pass.

This. I don't get the outcry about it.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if we were talking about brooks brothers or vineyard vines or something, but A&F? A&F should be limited to fats and geeds.

I get it, because it's a rather douche approach to things. It reeks of everything the average person hated about the "popular" kids in HS.

It just doesn't bother me because I didn't need him to tell me their philosophy to plainly see it.

Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, J. Crew, Walmart, Family Dollar, they all appeal to a particular section of the population.

The A&F CEO is just coming out and saying it.

This dude is A&F in real life. something tells me he wasn't popular in highschool so he is doing what he thinks popular kids should be. I didn't ever want to shop in there. it smells like they dumped out a cologne bottle inside and they blare loud techno....why the frick would anyone want to go there?

I always considered A&F for people with more money than brains. His statement will go a long way with that crowd and make him more money.

I don't disrespect his business strategies but he still sounds like a complete douche.

Old Navy? I don't think of them like those other ones you listed. I just hate Old Navy because they have huge "OLD NAVY" spelled out on everything and the quality is shittacular.

Old Navy, though owned by the same company that owns Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta, is nothing like the brands that he mentioned.
