Retrospect: Mount Cody vs Tha Monstar

While not the best players on the team or even on the defense, Alabama's two nose tackles from the 2009 and 2012 Title teams became fan favorites by being given larger than life personas. Terrence Cody and Jesse Williams will go down in Bama history regardless of their NFL careers.
Cody saved the Tide's bacon vs Tennessee in 2009 and helped Bama on their way to the Rose Bowl. Williams has 2 rings; One as a contributor on the ruthless 2011 D that neutered LSU and one as the leader of the line that pounded Notre Dame into submission.
Who was your favorite?

Its gotta be TC for me. If for no other reason than Rocky Block. Was one of the best plays in Bama history, not to mention it was his second block of the game. Impressive feat for a humongous run stuffer.

Cody, but Williams probably was the better overall player. Cody has a huge play that's always gonna be remembered. In a world flooded by Daniel Moore prints, Rocky Block was a play that truly deserved one.
My overall favorite NG(s) under Saban was Brian Motley/Zo Washington in '07. Motley was talked up by Saban for his 1st step moving from offense, but 2 injuries(broken hand and ankle) caused his season to stall then fall flat. Zo Washington was forced to replace him as an undersized player and did what he could. Washington goes on to start for the '09 team at DE, while Motley moved back to offense and provided interior depth for the remainder of his career.

Hard to vote against Cody - though, JW has two rings.

Tough to vote against either, but Jesse is the better player. That said, Cody and those blocks against UT really came through for us. So, I have to say Mount Cody.

Cody for Rocky Block if no other reason. Plus he played the FB role better than JW. JW had NO frickING IDEA where to run to and who to block. He just tried to hit someone.
I love Jessie though
And let's all hold up on the JW>TC, because TC = 2nd round pick and regular contributor on a superbowl team. JW = 5th round pick and hasn't done shite yet. He's larger than life, but right now and based on play at UA, i'd say TC>JW

Cody was definitely my favorite. Williams was way too weird for my taste.

Cody will be remembered longer. He will be remembered as a bigger difference maker IMO.

Was he not extremely weird?
I thought Cody had much more of an impact too. I always felt Williams was overhyped.

I always liked Josh Chapman.

Cody was my favorite, but I'd say Jessie was the better player. Chapman was another good one that didn't get a lot of love.

Come on...Cody by far. historic national championship saving play over UT. One of the most exciting plays I have ever seen watching a Bama game in the last 30 years. Come on..over UT and Kiffen....Priceless!

Cody was a better player not sure why people in this thread think Jessie was the better player. One was a second round pick the other was a fifth.

Jesse fell because of injury concerns. I'd take Jesse any day, I don't know that TC could play End in a 34, but Jesse can. I'd say Jesse is more versatile, and a better pass rusher. Once Jesse has played for a couple of more years and sharpens his technique, he's going to be a beast.

If we're talking about who was better at Bama it's Cody. He hasn't done anything in the Nfl and I think that is why everyone is forgetting just how good he was in college he was an elite run defender. I think Williams will be a better pro, but in college Cody was better.

I too believe Jesse was better all around. And to be fair... if I was given the option of having a recruit who would b either another Jesse or another Cody... I'd take Jesse all day. Cody was rarely a 3 down nose tackle and his weight was sometimes an issue. Both were studs who mostly commanded the attention of 2 O-linemen but I'll take the guy with more stamina and an higher ceiling to be honest, remember, this guy played mostly rugby a few years ago.

If having tattoos and wearing badass face paint makes you "extremely weird", then yeah, i guess. Get outta your bubble, guy.
