I started to go older but I have no real frame of reference. There are a few in the mid-80s that I have opinions on but 25 was such a round number I'm sticking to it. I did go ahead and include any player that played in 1988 though and Jerry Fontenot got in by the skin of his nose.

QB - Johnny Manziel (2012-) * Heisman Trophy
RB - Darren Lewis (1987-1990)
FB - Robert Wilson (1987-1990)
WR - Ryan Swope (2009-2012)
WR - Terrance Murphy (2001-2004)
TE - Martellus Bennett (2005-2007)
OT - Luke Joeckel (2010-2012) * Outland Trophy
OG - Calvin Collins (1994-1996)
OC - Jerry Fontenot (1985-1988)
OG - Steve McKinney (1994-1997)
OT - Richmond Webb (1986-1989)

DE - Sam Adams (1991-1993)
DT - Ty Warren (1999-2002)
DE - Eric England (1990-1993)
LB - Von Miller (2007-2010) * Butkus Award
LB - Dat Nguyen (1995-1998) * Lombardi Award
LB - Quentin Coryatt (1990-1991)
LB - Aaron Wallace (1986-1989)
CB - Kevin Smith (1988-1991)
CB - Aaron Glenn (1992-1993)
S - Patrick Bates (1991-1992)
S - Terrence Kiel (1999-2002)

P - Shane Lechler (1996-1999)
K - Randy Bullock (2008-2011) * Lou Groza Award

I tried not to include current players but it would be a silly list to exclude JFF. Honestly there aren't any obvious guys on the team now though. Jake Matthews seems like he would be but Joeckel/Webb is pretty tough company. That's a bit like LB where I left a host of excellent players off.

Your thoughts?

Looks good to me. That defense is nasty. I'm guessing Evans will make a strong case for that second WR spot by the end of his career

Sam Adams was nose, Ty Warren was end.

What about Rocky Bernard? Red Bryant? Ron Edwards? Brandon Mitchell?

Ray Mickens? Marcus Buckley? Melvin Bullitt?

Sam never played nose for us. Lance Teichelman was the primary NT in those days. He was always a 3-4 end in college. In the pros he moved inside.

Warren was All-Big 12 as a NT. He then moved to DE as a senior.

Mickens was a corner. Buckley was an OLB. Bullit? Seriously?

I think so. WR is pretty limited. We really haven't had a lot of great ones. Jeff Fuller looked like he was going to be. I think Jarvis Harrison may also make a case.

Also, that defense makes me cry. 5 of those guys were on the team in 1991. Maybe the best college defense I've ever seen and yet we somehow lost to Tulsa. Tulsa?!?

Your list is pretty solid.

I might have placed Jeff Fuller ahead of Murphy but I can certainly understand that Fuller's senior season marred what was otherwise a fantastic collegiate career.

For sentimental reasons, I would like to put Bucky Richardson in at QB ahead of JFF but I find myself unable to do so. My first memories of Aggie football involve Bucky scrambling around defenses and willing the team to victory.

To put it another way, 1 year of JFF > 4 years of Bucky Richardson.

That is remarkable.

Robert Ferguson should be in the WR convo even though he only played a year. Greg Porter was also clutch.

I think all I would do is replace Bennett with Rod Bernstine. Bennett didn't impress me much -- and Bernstine was unstoppable at times.

It's right at the 25-year limit.

I hear ya brother! Bucky has been my favorite all-time player for so long I couldn't have imagined not picking him. No one else was even in his league and then he got blown past in one year. Amazing!

Yeah, I'd say Ferguson's one year was maybe the most dominant ever. We didn't throw like we do now so it's really hard to compare but by himself he gave us a passing threat.

I guess I picked T-Murph because he was one of my favorite players and he did it over a full career unlike some of the other guys mentioned.

I actually went back and forth on TE. Surprised other names haven't popped up. Bennett was an awesome blocker but we've actually had a few other TEs that imo have been more complete. I'd agree with you on Bernstine. He was awesome. But Rod's last year in Aggieland was 1986 though so he isn't eligible.

Was also sort of expecting more debate at RB, FB, and the last LB honestly. Those were some that were really hard to pick. We've had a lot of good ones at those positions.

Are we going solely on their aggie career im guessing?

There should be a offensive and defensive utility player or special teams at least... Tannehill was a great WR and #8 draft pick at QB

KR/PR- Leeland McElroy (1992-1995)

If Dante Hall had ridden a bicycle to campus while at A&M, he might have gotten the nod.

Hall certainly had a better NFL career than McElroy, but I'm only taking into account the time the players spent in Aggieland.

What are the rules on claiming Dante Hall? I was young when he was an Ag, I know him mostly from his Xfactor days in the league.

Dante Hall didn't return kicks or punts. Sirr Parker and Chris Taylor returned kicks, Jason Webster returned punts.

I could only remember Hall as a RB, but I assumed that he handled some special team duties for us as well.

That wasn't a complete stretch considering the impact he had in the NFL.

In hindsight, it seems like we underutilized Dante during his time at Aggieland.

Wikipedia shows him as 2nd all time in all purpose yards for us. I definitely didn't know that.

Parker and Taylor definitely returned kicks some but "Hall is the only player in school history with more than 2,000 career rushing yards and over 500 yards in both career punt return and kickoff return yards."

For those that don't know the story on Dante, RC kicked him off the team as a Senior because of a personal dispute. I've heard a lot of innuendo about it but since I can't say what is honestly the truth, I'd rather not perpetuate any of it. But what we do know is that whatever the dispute, Dante used to park in RC's parking spot every day

I'd take Leeland on kickoffs for sure. I sort of lean to Aaron Glenn as a punt returner though.

The last punt return for a touchdown prior to Dustin Harris in 2010 was Jason Webster in 1998.

Great list tmc94.

Since this is a 25 year football team (1988-forward) I would vote for Seth McKinney over Fontenot as Fontenot had one season (1988) versus McKinney's body of work. Seth was a four year starter, on the all-America team twice and on the 10th anniversary Big12 team.

The mystery remains lol... Crazy Dante hall had 573 punt return yards his freshman year...

Big 12 freshman of the year, 2,000 yard rusher and 1000+ special teams... All without a senior year. His senior year could have been huge...
