Can someone help me out on an article that was posted here a couple years ago that talked about all the times the capacity number has changed over the years at Neyland. It talked about them re-painting the seats after Bama expanded so they could stay the biggest stadium and what not. TIA

It is a fact that currently 20% of Vol fans can no longer fit in their arse igned seats. That number will grow as does the number of arse igned seats next year

I hate when teams re-write history.

I mean seats. Sorry....seats.

Why are Bama fans obsessed with this topic? Most recent renovations were from 06 to 10. Only the seats in the club and terrace sections were renumbered because seats were actually removed in these areas.

Here is a link. Capacity info is halfway down. Neyland

bleacher seats and airline seats are always too small.
the fat arse People's lobby needs to push congress on this.

The trouble with this is the money required to buy two seats per person for flights out of Birmingham to DC. Gets expensive fat.

Sure...happy to help you out. Bryant Denny Stadium expanded in 2006 to 101,821. Four years prior to that, UT shrunk it's capacity from 104,079, to 102,037. UT repainting the seats to increase capacity was done in the late 80's...back when Bryant Denny was still holding around 70,000 people...UT did not shrink seat sizes after Bryant Denny expanded. Your premise that UT shrunk seat size to stay ahead of Bama is not true, they shrunk seat sizes long before that to milk more money out of the UT fans.

Hiring luminaries like Lane Kiffin and Derek Dooley isn't cheap.

Milking UT fans . . . that's the worst farming job ever.

In 1980, the North Stands were rebuilt, netting a capacity increase of 10,999 seats and enclosing the north endzone in a "bowl" style (see Rose Bowl and Yale Bowl for examples). A net loss of seats in 1987 to accommodate the West Executive Suites construction was more than offset by a student seating adjustment in 1990, increasing capacity to a total of 91,902.[6]

In 1996, the last major expansion was completed with the North Upper Deck to fully enclose the upper level, giving a net gain of 10,642 seats. A 1997 seating adjustment to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was followed by addition of the East Executive Suites, topping total capacity at 104,037 in 2000.[6]

The addition of the East and West Club Seats in 2006 and 2009, respectively, decreased the total capacity to 100,011. In 2010, the completion of the Tennessee Terrace raised stadium capacity to its current total of 102,455 people.[6]

You kidding? Their Thanksgiving pants probably have elastic bands that NASA scientists sent to them.
