I was given my .22 at age 6 after a couple of years with a BB gun. I was not allowed to handle it without supervision for several years, and each time I was allowed to bring out for use or cleaning, I was first to check my safety and then double check to make sure the chamber was empty. If I failed to do those two things, I would get my arse beat and then be grounded; that went for my BB gun/pellet rifle, too. The blame lies not with the rifle, but with the patents, in this case.

Sad indeed yes, but just because it took place in Kentucky you automatically assume that they are as you put it " Dumbass County Bumpkins " I had a gun at the age of 5 so I guess by your logic I would be the same correct?

The problem lies in the first paragraph. Why was the mother letting him PLAY with the rifle it's not a toy. My daughter was giving a 22 rifle and she s six and knows its not a toy and it definitely doesn't sit in the corner it goes in my gun safe. Just plain ignorance!!!

my boys have pellet guns, air soft guns, bows, knives, and a .22....
they are 8, 9, and 12 and have all been allowed to use these TOOLS since they were around 5
they are more accurate than most adults with them too...
the problem is the mom...she should be charged for negligence...she is the dumbass...not Keystone, not the kid, and not the gift giver...
the mom should have had more respect for the capability of that child and the weapon she was allowing him to "play" with...
the sad thing is she will likely get 20 years or more while Casey Anthony roams free..

Probably would have said DUMBass ****S/HOODRATS/THUGS, etc., makes no difference to me...I say it all the time in reference to the ignorance of some of my "people", I see no harm in splitting hairs between wording, all is the same, Country Bumpkin and **** are interchangeable, refers to the ignorance of a certain demographic, only difference is one is usually black, the other is usually white...no offense, but hypothetically, if your mother gave you a rifle at the age 5 WITHOUT supervising you, I dare say she would be in my list of "country bumpkiness", you aren't a "country bumpkin" because you had a gun at the age of 5, but if you mom let you play with the gun unsupervised, well...the other week, a story came out about a pit bull killing a 2 year old, the mom was black, I said to a fellow friend and my wife, "dumbass ****s, I would never leave a senile pit bull around my 2 year old without being supervised", that said I can see where you would draw offense, hopefully none taken, because none was given
