As usual, I love the format which shows where players moved...

Kentucky now has 5 of Top 10 players

Updated Team Rankings

Nice to see we moved up a spot to #6 class now with Martin's jump

Final ESPN 100 also released (5/1/13)
ESPN 100

Team Rankings

Glad to see Mickey move up a bit in their 100 and we moved to #9 for team ranking. A unanimous Top 10 class among rivals, scout, 247 and espn.

I still don't get how it's possible to have the #7 and #9 players in the class and be ranked #15th.

Because basketball recruiting rankings (for teams) are worthless due to the variance of how many a team will sign in a given year. Sometimes teams will sign just 2 guys other times they sign 7. When teams like UK completely reload it can often skew the rankings (although UK isn't the best example since they would be at the top regardless). Its not like football when we can expect pretty much everyone to sign 20 in a given year.

Not bad for Frank Martin's first full year of recruiting. Already has a 4 star PG for next year and we lead for LJ Peak.

There's only so much you can do with basketball rankings. You dont want to push teams too far down who only take 2-3 guys but they are very good but you also dont want to punish teams who take 5-6 guys with 2-3 guys very highly rated.

Because some classes are much different in size than others, unlike football, it's much harder to get an as accurate ranking system. It's hard to measure the value of 2 highly ranked guys in 1 class vs. 1 highly ranked guy, 2 fairly highly ranked guys, and 2 lesser guys in another class.

Have people found 247 to be as good for basketball as they are for football?

Edit: In Bball prob need to go more by average of the recruits than # since the number is so skewed for teams, although even that number is skewed by one 'bad' recruit. Average rankings moves Kentucky out of the top 10.....

Scout used to be the best in basketball - they still may be.

They are not close. With this update, I think it's a lot better, but there's still a lot of room for improvement on the basketball side.

This is my point, the balance between # of recruits and caliber is really tough to make a formula for.

Wow, ESPN is really bullish on Embiid. I don't get why they're lower on Walker than everyone else is, though. He's easily a Top 10 player imo.

I only watched Hill once and he didn't seem like a 5-star player in that game. It was the tournament against Prime Prep. Walker was playing out of control (probably had 6-7 turnovers) and fouled out with a few minutes left in the game. Didn't really score much either.

But it was just 1 game. #12 is really close to where other sites have him.

Walker... Not Hill. Rivals has Walker 6th and 247 has him 7th.

Hill is ranked right where he should be imo.

Also JUCO guys get little to no recognition even though they may be just as good if not better than regular 4 year recruits. Also the way college basketball is today with Transfers and Graduate transfers a lot can be added to a team that has nothing to do with recruiting rankings.
