Gonna be fun beating 2,6,7,11, and maybe 8 in the SECCG

The Big 10 is a joke. Northwestern might actually win the conference this year.

While i dont think Ohio State is the # 1 team in the country i do think they get to the NC this year. Their conference is weak right now.

Michigan takes them out this year.

I realize OSU only lost three to the draft but they lost another six big time players to either graduation or leaving early.

Where I think they are going to be lacking this year is along their DLine, so Michigan beats them this year imho. Wouldn't surprise me if Cal upsets them at Berkeley early in the season either.

I'm not a stat guru and don't exactly know what's good/fair/bad in relation to this category, but doesn't that seem a little on the high side? The blurb said that they ONLY allowed that much and point to it as a positive for their defense...but 5 yards per PLAY? Idk..it just doesn't seem like that's something to hang your hat on.

They might be a massive improvement, considering where Clemson was in 2011. They were just awful. That being said, Alabama's 2011 defense gave up 3.3 YPP. It was slightly higher in 2012, with 4.2 YPP. CU's 4.9 YPP in the "second half" of 2012 would roughly equate to 350 YPG. That would be Top 50 nationally, over a 12 game season.

I do not think there are 15 teams that are better than LSU. However, that's where we belong based on how we ended the season.

0.0% chance OSU is better than Bama

And Alabama fans get ridiculed to think they could re-peat as SEC champions with our roster losses.

A sub 5 Y/Play would put them in the top 30 defenses last year. 4.9 even would put them in the top 22. It's not too shabby, especially considering, even with the 4.9 average over the last seven, they finished the season with 5.65 y/Play. Which means they were giving up 6.55 per play in their first six games and worked it down to that. Improved to say the least.

Schedule. I would have them #1 also. Doesn't mean they will actually be the best team.

There's a great advantage to being #1 preseason though. Every member of the media who predicted you'd finish #1 has a vested interest in that happening

I think this is only true if the voter goes against the grain for some reason (e.g., voting a non AQ team highly). Most voters understand teams with change throughout the year and expect to modify their votes accordingly.

I don't get this line of thinking. If you think another team is better then rank them higher regardless of their schedule differences.

But the downside to being preseason #1 is the way it takes the air out of your hunger. I am glad we are going through spring practice with something to put a chip on our shoulder. I always worry when there's nowhere to go but down.

I do agree, though - some of the sportswriters have a conflict of interest, but they've always had it so it's nothing new. At least the media darling has to play one tough game at the end before being crowned, unlike some of the old Big Ten or Notre Dame squads.

In AP, ND finished #4, UGA #5, A&M #6. Does anyone really think ND could stay within 3 TD's of those two teams. The way it should be, and the way it is, are two different things.
